After the tour, in which Joey was proud to show off his knowledge of what all the buttons did, they settled into the living room.
“We should order pizza.” Amy said as she folded in her legs to sit, feet and knees tucked in towards her on the couch.
“We just ate.” Mikael said.
“Mikael,” Joey scolded, “We’ve talked about this. Pizza should never be turned down.”
“Yeah, Mikey. Especially when your with the Izziani’s.” Matty said, pointing at his siblings and himself.
“He’ll make you fat, this one.” Amy told Mikael, with warning eyes and a gleaming grin as she nodded towards her brother.
Joey elbowed her.
Mikael chucked. “Actually, Joey’s been eating a lot healthier. Think I’m rubbing off on him.”
Joey groaned. “How dare you reveal my healthy eating habits in front of my family, Mikael.” Joey looked scandalized, as did his siblings.
“What’s Hawaii doing to you bro?” Matty asked, face fallen.
“It’s not Hawaii. It’s this guy.” Joey said, gesturing to Mikael with an accusatory finger.
Mikael grinned.
Matty shook his head in shame.
"So, how was your flight?" Amy asked before taking another slurp of soda.
They were sat around the coffee table in the living room. Half-empty greasy pizza boxes placed on top of towels placed on top of the luxurious white fluffy carpet. They did not even want to imagine what the cleaning charge for a place like this could cost.
Uno cards were scattered on the table.
Joey only had three cards left, he was winning.
"Mikael got hit on." Joey didn't know why that was the first thing that came to his mind to share, but he continued, "Got the girl's number and everything. What was her name again?”
“I don’t remember,” Mikael said, placing another card on the pile in the middle. He was catching up, only had four cards left and one of them was +4.
“Alyssa, I think,” Joey said, his turn, he placed a reverse on the pile and Amy, next to him, groaned. It was Mikael’s turn again.
"Oooh.” Matty let out, smiling mischievously at his sister.
He was the least competitive of the bunch, but he still had far fewer cards than Amy, and he liked messing with her. So after Mikael put down his card, Matty started going through the draw pile, despite having a yellow card that matched the one Mikael had put down.
“Are you gonna call her?" Matty asked as he grabbed card after card until he found a suitable one. Finding it, he grinned and looked up, quickly glancing at Amy and hiding his smirk.
Nonchalantly, Matty placed the reverse card on the pile in the middle and it was Mikael’s turn again.
Amy slapped him with a pillow and Matty let out a yelp mixed in with laughter.
"What is it with your family and pillows?" Mikael muttered as he glanced at the siblings.
"Don't avoid the question, Mikael," Joey said, eyes on him.
"Um.” Mikael glanced down at his cards. “Wasn’t really planning on it…"
"You should call her," Joey said.
"I should?" Mikael looked up from his cards, eyes on Joey.
"Yeah.” Joey shrugged. “She seemed sweet. Could probably show you around the city."
"Well, why can’t you show me around the city?" Mikael asked, brows knitted.
Joey shrugged once more. “ I can… I just thought you'd rather have a pretty girl take you sightseeing.”
“I'd rather have you,” Mikael said, like it should have been obvious to Joey.
Joey pulled his eyes away from Mikael to glance at his siblings, they looked busy pretending to have not been staring. He looked back at Mikael, who was still intently staring at him. “Okay.”
It was moments like these when Amy wished she was being filmed so that she could look up to stare at the camera, like on The Office.
Mikael looked down at the cards in Joey’s hand. Only two left.
Because he was good at his job, and totally not for cheating reasons, he knew Joey's cards were red and yellow.
He looked down at his own cards, three left. A red card, a yellow card, and his +4 card.
He had a decision to make.
It was an easy decision.
He placed down his +4 card and gave Joey his best grin as he did so.
Joey immediately slapped him with a pillow.
