https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxH0hfsZreQ The song of choice for this chapter is "Blossom" by Epik High. A short song worth your time, I promise~
As usual, I had to rush through parts of the chapter because I was so short on time. If you've kept up with my updates, you know that I got a new job and it's been draining me - hence the slow update. Hope you liked the chapter though!
I usually use this space to write random work-in-progress notes. I guess I should mention that although The Underground is technically a fancomic, it really has very little to do with the canon manga's plot. For one, there are no and never will be any titans in my comic. Also, canon characters will not make an appearance for a few more chapters.
One reason I created The Underground was to redefine and push the limits of what a fancomic is. I'm tired of fancomics constituting largely of smut, shallow plots with no real message or deep philosophy, canon characters acting completely out of character, etc. I wanted to make a fancomic that added to the canon, something that's plausible yet different and intriguing. Well, here's to hoping!
I also experimented a lot with shadowing in this chapter. More cross-hatching, mainly. Also, I tried to make things more sketchy and loose, to just make my art a part of me and damn the imperfections.
*Reads right to left.*
*New chapter at the end of each month.*
Deep beneath humanity's pristine capital lies humanity's unwanted - the dirty, the wretched. But like a rose that grew from concrete, there were some who refused to succumb. The thugs of the Underground rebelled against fate and reigned in the Golden Age of Thugs.
A fancomic based on "Attack on Titan" and "Attack on Titan: A Choice with No Regrets."
