1876 ticks had passed before J-71 went to find X-87 who was, of course, doing nothing productive at all. They were circling the outside of the mobile storage bay. J-71 immediately determined the answer to why they were doing this would probably be irrelevant.
J-71 began explaining all of the rooms and their functions.
“This is engine rooms 1 and 2 each of these can support all of the functions of the mobile storage bay independently if the other were to be damaged.”
X-87, “I won’t understand how it works so I won’t ask.”
J-71, “Efficient.”
“The repair room can repair any Builder or Warfighter as long as they know what parts they need.”
X-87, “So any builder.”
J-71, “Correct.”
“This room and the five others house equipment designed for the analyzation of the surrounding areas and the inside of the mobile storage bay."
X-87, "knowing more is always a key to victory."
“This room is a storage place for all weapons. No matter how much I loathe violence, the probability that the rest of the War Fighters will listen to reason is too low to even consider as an option.”
X-87, “I’d rather not be used for spare parts so this was a good call.”
“The next 8 rooms and the floor above and below are for storage or to be repurposed.” X-87, “These are the first rooms I've seen with actual storage capabilities.”
“The last one is the control room. From here we can control the movements of the mobile storage bay, as well as to attain all of the information from the analyzing devices.”
X-87, “How does this movement system work?”
J-71, “It is relatively simple to understand. It uses Ferromagnetism to apply force relative to the magnetic field of the planet. It can not apply great enough force after a distance of approximately 320,000 kilometers due to the field weakening at greater distances.”
“What’s ferro majestism?” X-87 asked with no real hope of actually understanding the science.
J-71, “I do not know why I thought I could explain it to you.”
X-87, “I don’t know why you thought that either.”
“I will control the movements of the mobile storage bay,” J-71 continued.
“I think I could pilot this thing, I took the tank piloting lessons while I was learning my specialty. The only difference with this is just another axis to worry about.” X-87 said while trying their best to not sound excited about a flying machine.
“Your simplicity concerns me. This device is much more complex than a tank and it will be too complex to operate successfully.”
"Maybe we could give it a shot later?"
"I wish to leave this planet without building a replacement mobile storage bay."
X-87 looked at J-71 with unseeable bewilderment. “Your plan is to leave the planet?”
“To my knowledge, there have never been any warfighters in the universe with the exception of this planet. It is only logical that we leave them behind.”
“Won’t they find a way to follow us, Jay?”
“When have you ever known the War Fighters to make an intelligent decision beyond when to reload their railguns? Even if they can adopt sciences with the equivalencies of a builder, they will not be able to learn how to build new parts fast enough to maintain any of the parts on their body in time to continue being functional.” J-71 wasn’t worried at all.
“Still though, how are you even going to do such a thing?” X-87 asked just one of their many questions that were on their mind.
“My current theory is that the squishy ruins hold the secret to this. After all, they arrived here somehow.”
“Seems reasonable, but why don’t we go to the ruins first though?”
“Believe it or not I want to see if I can convince a few of the builders that are left to join us.”
“Do you have some kind of plan for them?”
J-71 thought about it for a time. Why did I want them to go with me? I do not think it was to avoid the silence. “...No… I think… I do not know… I can not remember why.” What is this odd feeling?
How odd. X-87 thought. They do have emotions as War Fighters do… Oh. “I think I understand. There’s no need to explain.”
This only stood to confuse J-71. How could a War Fighter understand something even I do not? “...Very well. I will activate the mobile storage bay systems.” They moved to do just that, pushing the other thoughts aside.
