Wow lookit that, two pages in a week! I turned into some kind of art machine and spent all day working on this page and I didn't want to wait to post it.
Okay, so I read somewhere, can't remember exactly where (somewhere in the dark corners of the internet possibly) that Mnemosyne presided over a pool in Hades, so I kind of ran with that idea and bent mythology for the story to make it that the memories that Lethe took when the dead souls passed through her river ended up in Mnemosyne's pool.
According to the myths I've read, the dead souls actually drank from Lethe's river and lost their memories that way, but for the purposes of this story and because I thought it'd look cool, I changed it so their memories turned into tears that got swept away by the river and deposited into Mnemosyne's pool where she'd watch over them and... I dunno, made sure no one went splashing around in there?
I also found some stuff mentioning that Mnemosyne was also a river, but I obviously went with the "pool of water" version.
I'm not sure how many more pages there'll be in this story because I'm making it up as I go along mostly (I have an idea of how to get to the ending) but I don't want to drag anything out, so... maybe it'll end somewhere around the 20-page mark?
