As we drove towards the city, all I could notice was the constant amount of broken buildings and dead bodies.
Something crazy is definitely going on considering how long we went without random civilians dying.
But I guess times change after while, that's just how much this world has changed and I don't think it'll ever change now.
We're stuck in these times and I don't know how the hell we would ever be able to fix this. Maybe if we could set off a bomb within the main government production building.
(Government official POV) Liam Richardson.
A somewhat built man in a suit, short hair, blue eyes, 5'0clock beard. His name is Liam Richardson, he's 27 years old and is currently the one in charge of scouting.
"Richardson what have you figured out?" Asked the commander as he sat at his desk.
"Well Vital Tech has decided to officially work more closely with us." I responded as I stood tall.
"So they are officially moving into the building?" Questioned the Commander.
"Yes sir." I answered with confidence.
"Alright, consider yourself dismissed. I'll have more orders shortly." Replied the Commander.
I walked out of the room and started my walk down the corridor. This was typical when you had nothing to do, you'd just wander around or go back to your quarters.
That's the only downside to not having anything to do. Though I've heard a lot of rumors starting up.
The soldiers wanna bomb Foxton since it's seen as a rebellion stronghold. I can't say it is though, the police have been dealing with them for awhile now.
If they are in the city, it's definitely not peaceful. But besides that I don't know why we stopped caring about the civilians, I've noticed the satellite feeds.
Bodies as far as the eye can see on some streets but Oregon isn't the only focus we have. We've been keeping close eyes on Michigan too.
These places have strong points for those rebels and we know it. But they don't know that we know.
I wonder if we are gonna get Vital tech to make an enhanced nuke or enhanced emp. They've been a great help in making all this technology.
Especially the enhancements for paralyzed soldiers. I don't know why we gave the tech to medical institutes and hospitals.
One day we'll understand why this whole issue Happened though.
"Delta Squad, we're set to head towards Foxton tomorrow." Said Captain James over the comm.
Great, so we're heading to the city after all.
(Colin's POV) Just entering the city.
The city doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. I wonder if Bravo is still alive, it would be great if they are since we need them back at Omega Hall.
"Alright this is as far as we can go by car." Said Joe as he stopped the Jeep.
"Time to move on foot guys." Said Jess as she hopped out.
"Alex, Colin, you two are gonna head towards the East wing of the city." Said Joe as he pointed towards the area.
Of course it's the area I hoped we wouldn't have to go, the area where you can see the destruction and chaos. All I see that way is death and I swear screams can be heard.
"You got it Captain." Replied Alex as he signaled to move along.
Me and Alex wandered down the dark street, of course I'm gonna get over this but it sucks. First mission and it's down what seems to be the most dangerous road.
"Colin let's move into this building, best idea when it comes to scoping out the area." Said Alex as he climbed through a broken window.
Surprisingly there wasn't any glass but this is the way he seems to do things.
"Right behind you." I replied while climbing through the window.
A city once so alive that it was hard to get into, now it's dead and you barely see anyone around. What a change this is.
"Hey Colin, you know we have an outpost here right?" Said Alex as he asked me if I knew.
"I did not, who leads that one?" I responded while asking in return.
"Julia's father." Answered Alex as he looked around the room.
Julia's father? Wow so it's family run. Nice to know, but it makes me wonder why it started then? Who wanted to start this rebellion more?
Her father, or her?
Questions I wish I had answers to.
"Well let's get upstairs Colin, we don't have a lot of time." Said Alex as he began to go upstairs.
"Alright I'm coming." I replied as I followed behind him.
(Second Floor)
We both looked around the room before realizing that there was a good vantage point in front of us.
"Hey that window over there is perfect." Said Alex as he went over to it.
The radios seemed dead still but that meant they didn't get to there destination yet. Or that's what I'd assume at least.
"Captain do you copy?" Questioned Alex over the radio.
It stayed silent for a few moments, then the radio came back.
"I copy, we found what's left of bravo. It's a massacre, but I want you guys to keep watch while we contact Julia." Said Joe as he kneeled down.
"Got it Captain." Responded Alex as he pulled his rifle from over his back.
I walked over to the window and looked below. Nothing is around right now but what could've killed bravo?
"Colin I hope you know this is your home for the night." Said Alex as he looked at the time.
9:30 Pm.
Wasn't it 2:00 when they returned? Maybe we left an hour after. Damn that was a long ride, and I guess that would explain why it was getting dark earlier.
I kind of lost track of time, mostly because my focus was shifted but damn. Staying in this city overnight, how fun.
Footsteps can be heard below and some louder then others.
"What was that?" I whispered to Alex.
"The Police are out." Alex whispered back.
All that can be heard is the men chatting while walking past the building. They also seemed to have enhanced dogs with them, but the dogs were mostly converted.
"Joe, the police are out and heading your direction." Said Alex over the radio.
Static echoed over the radio.
"Got it, we are already hiding out. But it's not good. They have the hounds." Responded Joe as he hid behind a wall with Jess.
A robotic clanking can be heard coming from up the steps.
"Alex do you hear that?" I asked him quietly.
"I do, what the hell." Replied Alex as he turned around.
The mostly robotic hound reached the top of the stairs and turned the corner.
A few moments pass by and three more come up the stairs. All of them facing Alex and Colin's direction.
"What the hell do we do?" I asked Alex while looking around the room.
"See the building to the right of me, we could clear the jump from the window." Responded Alex.
"Ahh and how is that gonna be any better?" I questioned while looking towards the other building.
"Just follow me and be ready to run." Said Alex as he put his rifle over his back.
I watched Alex quickly pull out a pistol, then before I knew it. A gunshot can be heard.
It hit one of the hounds in the eye and that was the time to go.
"Run!" Shouted Alex as he ran for the widow.
Without any hesitation I ran towards the window and instantly jumped through it.
Oh shit!!!!!!!!
I saw the ground below if I didn't make it but then I felt myself go through the other window.
Shatter! Crash!
Ah..
That hurt a bit but everything is fine, I'm not even hurt. Wait, I quickly turned around to see Alex just jumping across now.
The hounds behind him stayed in the other building. Surprisingly they didn't follow but I wonder what made them check the building in the first place.
It's a crazy thought but they probably have crazy good senses. I wouldn't be surprised considering the fact that they are out right now anyway.
"Colin, you can get some sleep. I'll watch over everything for the night." Said Alex as he pulled his rifle back out.
"Are you sure that's even a good idea?" I questioned while sitting on the ground.
"Well you need the rest and I have more experience than you do." Answered Alex as he held his rifle.
Colin put his bag behind his head and laid down for the night. Alex watched over the area until daytime hit.
(The next day) Liam Richardson's POV. 5:30 AM Just entering Foxton City.
We made it to the city, of course it's abandoned. It's expected since everything happened the way it did, that's just how it is.
The people began to rise when the police began to take orders from the government. No one could have predicted that it would happen that way.
"Alright Delta, I want you guys to split into two different teams and search the city. We have a bit of time before a emp is supposed to be set off." Said the Captain as he stopped the Jeep.
Of course there's a plan to drop an emp, but what's the purpose of that?
Isn't it gonna effect our forces more than anything?
Whatever I guess, they'll figure it out afterwards like always.
Time to get to work.
(Colin's POV) Random Building, Second Floor. 6:30 AM
I finally awoke to a somewhat subtle sun rising in the distance. Of course it's early but I need to wake up. We got work to do.
"About time you're awake, hope you got enough energy for today. We gotta move." Said Alex as he looked out the broken window.
