A few days passed since I got here, it's almost time to finally do my first patrol. I've heard a lot of stories in the few days I've been here.
Of course it's all about the people who were here before me.
But Joe the guy who I've learned more about is pretty cool.
He always wears a leather jacket and I know it's weird to say but he's probably the first black guy I've ever become friends with. Mostly because I didn't have a lot of friends back then.
Especially of different ethnicity but he's pretty tall and strong. We're supposed to have our first patrol today too. It'll be interesting to be honest.
"Hey Colin why don't you go get ready." Said Joe as he put his vest on.
"Alright, will do." I replied as I walked over towards the bathroom.
See I normally come in here quick to get ready and look at my self in the mirror. It reminds me of who I really am.
A man with long black hair, brown eyes and a 5'10 figure. I'm not skinny nor am I fat, but this is what I always say to myself every time I come in here.
I've gotten use to it at this point and honestly I can't say it'll be much different.
Oh and yeah I got a beard, not incredibly long or bushy yet but it'll get there one of these days. It's all a matter of time at the end of the day.
I finished wandering in my thoughts and got my gear on. My Glock v5 in it's holster and ready to go.
Of course we are also required to wear the helmets. It's just a enhanced riot helmet or a riot helmet v3.
It's normally a standard for the police when dealing with riots or outbreaks, that's the standard protocol.
"Hey are you ready yet Colin?" Questioned Joe as he finished loading his bag.
"Yeah let's go." I answered as I walked out the bathroom.
About ten minutes later... (On the rooftop)
"I forgot to mention, we also have two other members of our team that you have yet to meet." Said Joe as he looked down at the streets.
"Who?" I asked while looking in the distance.
"Jess and Alex." Answered Joe as he continued to gaze at the streets.
"Well tell me about them at least." I said while continuing to look around.
"Jess is the best scout in this rebellion, you'll know it's her when you see her black hair and the fact that she's the shortest one here. She's got blue eyes and one hell of a temper." Replied Joe.
"What about Alex?" I questioned while I sat back.
"Alex has a fade for his hair and is about 5'9, somewhat built, he's our sniper. Normally he accompanies Jess since they are a good duo." Answered Joe as he picked up his radio.
"Joe do you copy?" Asked Jess over the radio.
"Yeah I copy, what's up?" Responded Joe.
"We're on our way back, nothing but dead bodies for miles." Said Jess before letting go of her radio.
Static and silence was there for a minute before Joe said something.
"Well travel safe and get back here in once piece okay." Said Joe as he waited for her response.
"Will do Captain." Responded Jess before letting go of her radio.
See I don't like calling them walkie talkies or whatever the hell people call them so I just stick with radios.
It's easier and makes life ten times easier.
"You can't expect a lot on the first patrol so don't get your hopes up kid." Said Joe as he kept an eye out for Jess and Alex.
I guess it's a game of waiting now since he did just say not to expect much on the first patrol. So now we wait for Jess and Alex to return.
A few hours pass...
It's currently 2:00 in the afternoon and I have no clue when Jess and Alex will return. Though it's gonna be my first time meeting them, it'll be an interesting experience.
"Hey I think I see them." Said Joe as he looked down at the main Street.
I looked down at the street he was looking at and saw the two of them riding towards the hall in an old jeep.
Damn so that's them, the descriptions I was given is pretty spot on.
Alex and Jess made it to the hall, luckily no one followed them.
I do wonder how the government hasn't caught on yet. You would think that they would've used the radio by now, considering it's not really discreet.
But besides the point, it seems the two of them made it. I'll finally get to meet them now. This will be interesting, hopefully they won't hate me.
(Back inside Omega Hall) Several minutes later...
I walked down stairs with Joe and of course they both Happened to be waiting for us. Eager to speak, probably with Joe of course.
"So is this the new guy?" Asked Alex as looked at me.
"Yeah, that's Colin. Take it easy on him." Answered Joe as he looked at Alex.
Surprisingly they both didn't really seem to hostile.
"Well it's nice to meet you Colin, just call me Alex." Said Alex as he reached his hand out.
"Yeah it's nice to meet you too." I replied as I shook his hand.
"I'm not the type to shake hands but the names Jess, nice to meet you." Said Jess as she looked towards the room.
Of course this was just a quick greeting but after that, we all went to our room.
It's bunk beds so no one will have to fight over having a bed.
"Hey Kid, why don't you go speak to Julia." Said Joe as he looked over at me.
"Alright, will do." I responded before leaving the room.
After a few minutes of walking down the hall, I finally reached the office. It's crazy that she has her own office but I guess it would make a lot of sense.
Knock knock!
As I waited, I could feel myself getting nervous. Or course this was the usual for me but she opened the door and seemed a bit shocked to see me.
"What's up Colin?" Questioned Julia as she held the door open.
"Joe sent me to see you for some reason." I answered while keeping calm.
"Oh he wants you to see what I need next, you guys need to head into the city." Said Julia as she let go of the door.
"Wait, we have to go into the city?" I questioned.
"Yeah let me grab the papers from my desk." Responded Julia as she walked towards her desk.
I didn't think I'd be going into the city any time soon but I guess it's happening.
"Alright, here you go." Said Julia as she handed me the documents.
"Erm, what are these?" I questioned while taking the documents.
"You're clearance to enter the city, it's all we got." Answered Julia.
"What are we going into the city for?" I asked before turning away.
"You guys need to find bravo, I haven't heard from them in days. So go see what happened for me." Ordered Julia as she closed the door.
She doesn't seem too happy about the fact that bravo is missing but it's okay, we'll find them.
I made it back to the room and quickly looked around for Joe.
"Hey kid, how'd it go?" Asked Joe from the corner of the room.
"Julia wants us to go into the city, bravo is missing." I responded as I walked over to Joe.
"Alright, I'm assuming she gave you the clearance papers." Said Joe as he put his hand out.
"Yeah, here you go." I replied while giving him the papers.
"Charlie it's time to go into the city, is everyone ready?" Said Joe while he asked everyone after.
"No time to waste, let's get going." Replied Jess as she grabbed her rifle.
Must be nice having bigger guns but I guess it's time to go.
(In the Jeep) Backseat.
I was stuck in the back with Alex but these guys seem duty heavy. Not really much talking from anyone but Joe.
He must be the talkative one considering he's the captain but shouldn't he be more serious?
Maybe I just haven't seen him that serious yet.
"We got a long ride to the city, so everyone keep an eye out." Said Joe as he began to drive.
Everyone knew that we had to keep an eye out for government patrols, they knew the difference between civilians and rebels. So that's why they are the biggest problem.
But I haven't really seen them in person yet, so I don't know if they truly are enhanced or if they are robotic. It'll be an interesting first encounter.
But as the thoughts crossed my mind, I faxed out the window. All I could see is abandoned houses or houses that were boarded up to keep the government out.
And of course, dead bodies along fences. Not the whole way but it was a lot. The amount of dead bodies around here is crazy, I feel bad for those people.
Some have sounds so bad you can see intestines or rib cages. That's a bit much though don't you think?
Especially if they were unarmed. I'd hate doing my job if that was the case..
People don't deserve to be treated that way, especially not by our own government.
