(Somewhere down the road.)
I was about ten minutes away from my house now and the gunfire seemed to get closer and closer. It has me worried to keep going down this road, so maybe a shortcut at this point is best.
Looking around me I noticed a fence to my left and quickly ran towards it, this was probably the best option. After hoping over the fence I realized that the gunfight just moved to where I was before.
Holy shit, how the hell did I manage to avoid that? Talk about senses huh.
Colin proceeded through the yards and kept searching for Omega Hall, but after twenty maybe thirty minutes he finally could see the hall.
But he wasn't quite there, just in viewing distance of the hall.
Everything seemed so close yet so far away but that was the reality of this world now.
No body knew how to find things anymore, it's like things would constantly shift around. There's really no way to explain any of this.
I looked around and noticed bodies by the fences. So many people die in these riots, most of the time they aren't this close though.
I can't believe this is our reality now.
"Come on guys! Quick get in here!" Shouted a girl from the distance.
I'm definitely close if I can hear someone bringing people in, that has to be the hall.
After walking a little further, I peaked around the corner to see other people running into the hall.
I was finally there but something didn't feel right. I just came down a pathway with bodies along the fences so what the hell did those people do different?
From the distance a helicopter can be heard and loud stomps are getting closer and closer.
I quickly turned the corner and began to run towards the hall, my heart is racing. I could feel my legs constantly lifting off the ground back and forth as I got closer to the doors.
"Come on!!" Shouted the girl as she held the door open.
Quickly running up the stairs and ran through the door and fell to my knees inside. I felt a sharp pain instantly jolt into my enhanced leg.
Ahh! Why the hell does that hurt so bad.
"Hey are you okay?" Asked the girl as she tapped my shoulder.
I looked back at her and nodded my head.
"My name is Colin and I appreciate you keeping the door open." I said as I struggled to stand up.
"Nice to meet you Colin, my name is Julia and no need to thank me." Responded Julia as she looked around.
There is a lot of people here but it's mostly made up of the people who paid attention to the radio. A lot of people didn't but the amount here is surprising.
"Well follow me so I can get you situated in a room." Said Julia as she began to walk.
I followed behind her and as I did, the memories started to come back to me.
About two years ago I lost my girlfriend to a failed enhancement procedure. She had stage 4 cancer and they consistently said that they could give her enhancements to survive it. It would cure her after about four months.
They lied. She didn't even make it the first month, Everything started to shutdown on her...
But it's in the past now right?
Yeah I have a photo in my wallet but that doesn't really mean as much as it use to. I had to get over it or I would have been stuck in my house my entire life.
"Hey this is your room, thanks for joining us." Said Julia as she opened the door.
"No problem, I really do hope this is worth it." I replied as I looked around the room.
Of course it's not an individual room but the people in here seemed nice, so it shouldn't be too bad. Though the situation itself worries me, I'll get over it.
That girl though, she had black hair, brown eyes and a tough figure. I'm positive she runs things around here.
It's interesting that something like this even exists.
"Hey new guy, what's your name?" Asked a random guy in the corner.
"My name is Colin, who are you?" I answered as I asked his name.
"My name is Joe, glad you could join our team." Answered Joe as he came out from the dark.
"What do you mean by team?" I questioned.
"You were put on our team when you entered this room, team Charlie. We are mostly guard duty at the moment." Answered Joe as he approached me.
"Am I getting some sort of weapon?" I asked while looking around.
"Of course, your bag is over there on your bed. That has your gear and weapons." Responded Joe.
"Was that always there?" I asked while going over to the bed.
"Yeah, it's there for anyone who is added to the team. "Replied Joe as he went back to his bed.
I opened up the bag to see some advanced Kevlar that was used when the police had issues with Android's. Yeah they tried Android's for awhile but found too many faults.
So Kevlar, An enhanced riot helmet, and a Glock v5 armor piercing rounds.
How they got their hands on this type of stuff I have no clue.
"Hey don't question too much alright, it was hard to get where we are today." Said Joe as he sat on his bed.
"I don't how long you guys have been in this hall or how long I haven't known but it's crazy." I replied as I moved the bag over.
I sat on the bed and began to think about how I didn't know about this place for so long.
"This place has stood for almost two years kid, welcome to the Rebellion." Said Joe.
I laid back and thought about how I could've came here so long ago. Nothing will change the past but I'm gonna help change the future, no matter the cost.
A change for the better. Hopefully.
