Evan mutters something and a snow-white cat jumps down from the roof before darting in front of the group. The cat hid before its body changed into that of a rabid dog.
Ace yelps and falls backward as he sees the dog. “Guys help,” he says looking terrified of the snarling animal.
Evan pulls Ace back by his collar before he pushes Sean behind himself. “You guys go I’ll keep the dog distracted,” he says.
“Thank you,” Sean says before he and Ace ran out of the wreckage.
Evan looks behind himself to make sure they were gone before he turned back to the dog with a calm expression. “Thanks, Husk. Go back to my dorm and wait,” he whispers as he kneels beside the dog.
Husk nods before turning into a bat and flying away.
Evan glances over his shoulder to double-check that neither of the others was looking before he walks out. “Let’s go. We shouldn't have come here in the first place,” he says with his arms crossed over his muscular chest.
“You’re so brave!” Seans says as he throws his arms around Evan’s neck “Thank you!”
Evan’s eyes widen as he blushes. “Erm… y-you’re welcome…” he mutters feeling embarrassed for some reason.
Ace’s eyes narrow as he glares at Evan with jealousy in his steely gaze. “We should go,” he growls as he grabs Sean’s arm and begins dragging him away from Evan.
“Ow! Hey! Y-you’re hurting me!” Sean yelps as he tries to pull away from Ace’s strong grip.
“Let go of him.” Evan snarls as he pulls Sean into his chest to get him away from Ace.
Sean blushes as he felt the solid warmth against his back. “Th-thank you…” he mutters.
“I’ll take you home,” Evan says as he leads Sean back to his car. “Are you alright?” he asks after a moment of driving in silence.
“Yeah… do you know why he was being that aggressive?” Sean asks a slight tone of fear in his voice.
“I’m not sure. I’m just worried about you when you’re around him now…” Evan says as he pulls out of the parking lot.
“I don’t want to stay at my mom’s place. C-can I stay with you?” Sean asks nervously. He was fidgeting with his fingers looking scared.
“Is this just to get off that subject?” Evan asks glancing at Sean for a second before focusing on the road.
“Sort've. So can I?” Sean asks.
“Sure. You’ll just have to ignore Dylan.” Evan says with a shrug.
“Thank you…”
At Evan’s dorm…
“Where do you want to sleep?” Evan asks.
“I-I can sleep on the couch…” Sean says timidly.
“Are you sure? It’s not the most comfortable.” Evan says.
“I guess…” Sean replies.
Dylan stumbles in with his white hair messed up and his expression dazed. “Hey guys!” he says his words slurring together.
“Dammit, Dylan! Are you drunk?” Evan asks as he grabs Dylan by his collar. “I’m sorry, Sean he is extremely irresponsible,” he mutters looking embarrassed.
“It’s okay. Is there anything I can do to help?” Sean asks as he helps Evan support Dylan.
“Go run a bath. Water helps him get a bit better when he's drunk.” Evan says. “I hate asking you to do this, but he’s a handful.” he sighs looking disappointed.
“Right,” Sean says as he walks to the bathroom and runs the bath just like Evan asked.
Evan walks in carrying Dylan. He had apparently changed Dylan into his swimming trunks.
“No! I don’t want a bath!” Dylan groans as he throws his head back.
“Come on buddy. Let’s just make this easy for everyone.” Evan says as he puts Dylan, much to the drunk’s displeasure, into the water.
“Do you need any help with him?” Sean asks. He didn’t really want to help but he felt like it was the right thing to do.
“No, it’s alright. Dylan dunk your head under the water.” Evan says returning his attention to Dylan.
“Fine…” Dylan groans before he sinks under the water.
“I don’t believe him,” Evan says as he grabs Dylan’s hair and pulls him back up.
“I-I think I’m better now. Can I go to sleep?” Dylan asks. He looked both ashamed and exhausted.
“Yeah, come here,” Evan says as he pulls Dylan out of the bath. “You can wait on the couch. This will take some time,” he says over his shoulder.
“Okay,” Sean says as he walks out of the bathroom before closing the door behind himself.
The dorm was modest yet it had a touch of style to it. There was a decent-sized flat-screen on a wooden stand in front of a comfortable looking leather couch, the walls were painted beige, and there were elegant paintings hanging on the walls.
Sean looked at all of the things around the room interestedly before his eyes fell on a leather-bound book. Against his better judgment, he opened the book.
It appeared to be a journal of some sort that belonged to Evan. He read the first page.
‘Entry:5411-
My job would be considerably easier if that stupid vampire would stay away from Sean. It’s ruining my chances of truly protecting the boy.
Husk has also made an appearance. It says it wants to help.
I’m not sure why. I think it just remained fond of me after it left the Citadel.
Anyways, Sean is curious. He makes me feel something different. I don’t know what it is. I may ask Husk if it knows anything about this seeing as it developed human emotions…’
Sean looked confused for a minute before he heard movement from the bathroom. He quickly put the book down and tried to act normal.
“Go to bed Dylan,” Evan says.
Dylan groans as he walks to his bedroom.
“Sean? You look like something’s wrong. Are you feeling alright…?”
