Sean couldn’t help but not pay attention in his class. He was to busy thinking about the encounter between Evan and Ace. Their alibis just didn’t seem to fit their aggression.
Before Sean knew it his class was over and it was time for break. Sean packed all of his books before walking over to the courtyard. Sean raises an eyebrow as he sees Evan talking to a white-haired boy.
“Hey, Evan.” Sean says as he walks over to the group “Who’s this?”
“Oh! Hey Sean. This is my friend Dylan.” Evan says. “He’s just been kicked out of his condo so he’s staying with me.”
“You must be Sean Kers. Evan’s told me so much about you!” Dylan says happily as he shakes Sean’s hand.
“Why did you get kicked out of your condo? I mean you seem like a decent person.” Sean says.
“Oh,” Dylan says as he takes his phone out and begins checking his apps, “people thought I was too loud.”
“Why don’t we go somewhere?” Evan asks “Aren’t you on break for 30 minutes, Sean?”
Sean nods. “Where do you want to go?” he asks as he puts his bag down because it was getting a little too heavy.
“I’ll get your bag,” Evan says kindly as he bends down to grab Sean’s bag.
“Oh! No, you don’t have to!” Sean says feeling embarrassed for some unknown reason.
“Ah, it’s fine.” Evan says as he slings Sean’s bag over his shoulder “It’s not a problem.”
“Oh, such a nice way to show off how strong you are, E!” Dylan says in a mocking tone.
“Shut up,” Evan growls “anyways we could go to that cafe again.”
“Sounds nice.” Dylan says “Are you gonna drive, E?”
Evan sighs as he takes his keys out of his pocket. “Fine. Follow me,” he says as he leads Dylan and Sean to his car.
At the cafe…
“So what do you want to major in?” Evan asks as everyone sips on their drinks.
“I’m not sure…” Sean mutters looking slightly disappointed in himself. “It’s a really hard choice.”
“I agree, so don’t be too hard on yourself,” Evan says.
A loud explosion from nearby makes everyone in the cafe jump and look out the window worriedly. A nearby building was burning as its walls crumble.
“Holy shit!” Dylan says his eyes wide. “What the fuck happened!?”
Evan walks out of the cafe his eyes turn gold as he takes a deep sniff of the air. He recognized the scent, it wasn’t regular fire. It was demonic fire. “Demons,” Evan mutters under his breath as his friends come over.
“What do we do?” Sean asks fear creeping into his voice.
“Don’t be afraid all we have to do is wait for the police and then they’ll tell us what to do,” Evan says gently.
Sean nods as he moves a bit closer Evan trying not to let his true fear show. What was going on? Stuff like this didn’t just happen. Sean didn’t believe in the supernatural but, just maybe…
Later…
Classes were canceled and students were sent either to their dorms or, if they were under 18, they were sent back home. Sean sat in his bed talking to Ace. Both of them were trying to figure out what was going on.
“So, it just exploded?” Ace asks for what felt like the tenth time.
“Yes.” Sean sighs.
“Shit…” Ace mutters looking concerned.
“What?” Sean asks.
“I don’t know it just seems odd. Right?” Ace asks looking uncertain himself.
“Well, yeah. But, we can’t do anything about it can we?” Sean asks.
“Maybe we can…” Ace says trailing off slightly with a mischievous glimmer in his eye.
“What?” Sean asks as he raises an eyebrow.
“We can go check it out later. Maybe we can figure out what happened.” Ace says with a sly grin.
“I don’t feel like that’s a good idea…” Sean says nervously as he plays with his hair.
“Why not?” Ace whines. “You can even invite Evan if you want,” he adds trying to convince Sean.
“Damn it…” Sean sighs. “Fine, but only for a little and if there are any cops still there we leave.
“Yes!” Ace says victoriously. “Let’s meet up at the cafe around 6...”
Later that night…
“Holy fuck,” Evan says as he looks at the rubble.
“How would this happen?” Sean asks looking afraid. “Th-this isn’t normal…”
“He’s right. We should probably go.” Evan says as he glares at Ace behind Sean’s back.
“Nah. Let’s look around a bit more.” Ace says as he pushes forward.
“Fine…”
