H: Save me (T﹏T)
Hibiki laid face down on his textbook, and let out a frustrated noise. By then it was late in the evening, and he had moved to his desk – he'd even eaten his dinner there just to keep studying. At long last he could see the very end of his textbook, but it was still a hundred pages away.
But then his phone buzzed in response, and he immediately reached for it.
T: I don't think there is anything I can do?
H: Just hold me and tell me it will be alright
T: It will be alright?
H: More conviction, you're my savior
T: Yes my love, I will ensure that you are to be all right.
H: Savior, not senior ಠ_ಠ
But I liked the effort
Thanks babe
T: Sure? So studying is going bad, isn't it?
H: It's okay
Nearly done with law
But it's so fucking boring
T: How much more do you have to do?
H: 90 pages
T: That's not so bad though, and then next week you'll be working on psychology, right?
H: Yes, but I like that more
Are you nearly done?
T: With everything but economics. I'm trying, but I just can't seem to do it. I've even asked Sam, and it didn't help.
H: I have statistics
so maybe we can sit together for math?
T: We can try? Do you have a day in mind?
H: Maybe stay over Saturday
Then study Sunday?
T: Do you just want me to stay the night?
H: If I had a say, you'd be here right now
T: I suppose that's fair enough. I can stay over.
H: It'll be fun (^_^)
T: I thought we were going to study?
H: Maybe I'll study you instead
T: I don't think I'm an exam requirement.
H: No
But I'd love to examine you (。•̀ᴗ-)✧
T: Your brain has stopped working, hasn't it?
H: It's gone
My focus
My mind
The lawbook ate it
Although it was a text message, Hibiki still let out a heavy sigh and let his head hang low when he sent it. Luckily Tristan’s response gave him some more incentive to mess with him.
T: So now you're flirting with me?
H: I know you're into it babe
Am I a good distraction from math? ♡
He grinned as he sent it, imagining how Tristan would react. In his mind’s eye he could already see the blush on his cheeks and hear him stammer a reply – and it excited him enough to forget all about his studying woes.
T: I shouldn't get distracted.
H: Yet here you are
Still talking to me
Which makes me think you like it
T: Of course I like it. I like talking to you.
H: Only talking?
T: Well, a bit more than that, but it's not like we could do that now anyway.
H: We could keep talking?
T: I guess a break won't hurt.
H: Okay
How about 30 minutes
T: Fine, but no more, I do want to get my work done.
H: You work more than me
And I'm Asian
So you deserve a break
T: Maybe you're right.
H: Of course I am
T: Yes, how could I have been so blind?
H: You were blinded by how awesome I am? ᕙ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ᕗ
T: That must be it.
H: You know now
So don't forget
Also, going to get a drink
I'll brb
With renewed energy, Hibiki made his way to the kitchen to get himself a soft drink. Figuring he deserved it after a day of studying, he poured his glass full with the fizzy, sugar-laden liquid. He leant against the counter and took a sip. With a smile he checked his phone again, to continue his conversation with Tristan.
H: Are you excited for Saturday?
T: I mean, I don't know what it is or where you're taking me. But otherwise, yes.
H: It'll be nice
T: It's nothing dangerous right?
H: No skydiving dinner or bungee jump breakfast
T: Good.
H: I wouldn't do that to you
I'm not that bad
Also, you screaming isn't very romantic
T: You mean flailing and crying in terror doesn't look good on me?
H: I didn't say it wouldn't look good
It's just inconvenient to get turned on that high up
T: Even more reason why we shouldn't do it then. I'd just like something I would enjoy too?
H: I know you will
It's nothing dangerous or weird
Or expensive
T: But better than going out for burgers?
H: Yes
T: Can't you just tell me then?
H: It wouldn't be a surprise if I did that
You'll just have to trust me (人 •͈ᴗ•͈)
T: I'll bring my inhaler just in case then
H: Shouldn't you always do that?
T: Definitely with you.
H: Because I'm breathtaking?
T: Yes.
H: I knew it (。•̀ᴗ-)✧
Really though
Don't worry
It was Kazuo who looked through ideas with me
And he's paid to keep me alive
Which I still am, so he's pretty good at it
T: That actually does comfort me some.
H: But you're still worried?
T: Of course I am. I'm always worried, that's what I do.
I'm worried about what to wear, and what to say.
I'll worry whether or not you'll like me, or if I'll accidentally do something offensive.
But then I'm there with you, and none of that matters.
That's how it's been every time we meet.
Although the string of messages concerned him in the first part, wanting to tell Tristan that he shouldn't, and that it wasn't true, the second part made him smile.
H: So you do trust me?
T: Of course I do, your intentions at least. I'm not sure about your judgement.
H: Me neither
But at least I'm interesting
T: Interesting enough to keep me from studying. I think I really should get back to it though.
H: Wait
Just one more thing?
T: Yes?
For a short while he doubted about whether or not to ask Tristan about his psych appointment, the question already half typed, before he decided against pressuring him about it. Instead he tried to be reassuring, in the only way he could think of.
H: You're amazing babe ♡
I really want you to have a good time Saturday
T: You're pretty great too.
Thank you.
H: Don't worry, okay?
T: I'll try not to, but exams do stress me out. Even mock ones, so please don't be mad if I'm quiet, or nervous?
H: I get you
Plus it's pretty shitty to get mad about that anyway
So I'm not
T: That does make me feel better
H: See, I'm not so bad <( ̄︶ ̄)>
T: I suppose you're not
H: You can go back now
Tell me when you're going to sleep
Then we can maybe talk a little more
T: It probably won't be too late, midnight maybe. But I will text you.
So ta for now then.
H: Cya ♡
A slight smile played on Hibiki's face when he walked back to his desk. He held himself with pride, rather content with how he'd handled that chat. At the very least the distraction had allowed his mind to recover from the monotony of studying, and he found the words in his law book made a lot more sense now he saw them after his break. At least for the first page – the other eighty-nine far less so.
