“This is... Amy?”
_____________________________________________
James nodded, and I continued I stared at the drawing. Was he serious? Was that really Amy? Maybe it was because he was bad at drawing, but that couldn't be it… This, Amy looked almost non-human I kept questioning it in my head, then James started to talk.
“What’s wrong? Don’t you like her?”
“Um, yeah she’s nice…”
I obviously lied-she looked nothing like the little girl I had pictured. In fact; she looked like a deformed… something. I wasn't so sure. I quickly dismissed him and went upstairs. I unconsciously looked at my phone (it was still dead it was not like I was expecting it to magically charge up) So I opened up my laptop...
~~
Hours past, James ran into my room slamming open my door.
“Can’t you learn to knock!?” I shouted
“Sorry, Amy and I are hungry.”
He stared at me, grinning sheepishly. I glared at him and started for the kitchen. Might as well make myself something to eat. I Opened the fridge, it was almost empty. I opened the cabinets and to my relief, I found some instant ramen I could make for us. I wasn’t the best at cooking and neither did I like it. I grabbed two packets and boiled some water for it. When I finished I placed the two bowls on the table. James ran over, seeing that I was finished and sat down. I grabbed a couple of utensils and sat down beside James, he looked at me for a moment and stood up.
“What about Amy?” He asked.
“She’s hungry too.”
“She’s not real James, sit down and eat.”
“If you don’t make Amy something I’m telling mommy that you snuck your boyfriend in the house last week!”
I glared at him, and he glared back.
“Ugh, fine!”
I made my way back to the kitchen and made another bowl of ramen. I took the ramen and put it next to James. We began to eat, Halfway into the meal he began to talk to someone, he was whispering and giggling. It really made me uncomfortable, I grabbed my bowl and started heading upstairs to my room, James looked up.
“Ari! Where are you going?” James looked at me.
“I just want to eat in my room.”
“But what about me and Amy?!” he yelled
He was really starting to get on my nerves. “You guys will be fine! If you need something just come and get me!”
After a few minutes, James finished his bowl he ran to the stairs and told me he was done, then ran off to go play. I went downstairs to clean up the bowl. As I walked over to James’s “friend’s” bowl I mumbled “what a waste of food”. To my surprise the bowl was empty.
“James, did you eat the other bowl of ramen?”
“No Amy did.”
I just sighed and put the bowls in the sink not thinking too hard about it. It made me a bit suspicious. James never really lied, yes he was a brat, but there was no way he was able to eat that much.
~~
I couldn’t sleep well that night, my mind was stuck on the thought of James’s so-called friend. All of a sudden I woke up in a cold sweat panting frantically. I didn't know why, it was probably a nightmare, but… for some reason a couldn't remember anything. I looked at the clock it was 1:46. The sound of a door slamming open from across the hall startled me. I jumped out of my bed and peered out my door, James was standing at the edge of the stairs, looking forward.
“James” I called out, but no answer.
“James, go back to your room!” I shouted in a loud whisper, still no answer. I groaned, I walked over and grabbed his arm.
