Evan hums as he walks down the street. Unlike most other people Evan had an eye for the extraordinary occurrences of Wakesburrow. Most. People like Sean were different. Nathen was right. He had to keep an eye on the boy. This was one of the few times Evan was allowed to relax and be free from his duties. “What gives these kids their abilities anyways?” Evan wonders. It was his one question the council refused to answer. The moonless sky gave the town a well deserved eerie look, combined with no other people around and the bone-chilling noises, the small town could be a horror movie set. “But, it’s not. This is real life.” Evan says out loud. But, of course, for all Evan knows he could be in another training simulation. “There isn’t a true way to know.” Evan thinks. A light breeze ruffles Evan’s hair as it brings a new scent to Evan’s nose. It smelled like blood. Pig’s blood. Evan’s eyes turn gold as he turns and follows the scent. It was common for cults to use animals, mostly pigs, for sacrifices to their “gods”. Evan rolls his eyes as he sees people in black robes chanting around a pig carcass. There was nothing new about the situation and like a child, Evan quickly lost interest. Evan whistles as he walks down the street. He would see a “person” now and then but quickly lose sight of them once they knew he was looking. Evan’s thoughts of work became boring quickly just like everything else around him. His mind quickly shifted to the first person to intrigue him in years, Sean Kers. He was smart. Almost to smart for his own good. “He might figure it out.” Evan thinks. “If he does. What will he think of me?” Evan mutters surprising himself with how much he apparently cared. Emotions were so complex Evan wondered how weak-minded humans could deal with them. Evan’s mind went back to Sean. He was strong-willed just like his father. Evan flinches as he thinks back to what happened to the man. “He was a genius. But, that shifter killed him.” Evan mutters disappointedly. “I need a drink.” Evan huffs annoyed that his mind brought him back to the unpleasant thoughts of Sean’s father. “Aren’t you a little too young for something like that?” a young man purrs as he presses himself against Evan. “Hello, Dylan,” Evan says as he pushes Dylan away from him. “So. Who’s the job going?” Dylan asks as he takes Evan’s hand into his own. “Good enough. One problem though.” Evan says as he gives Dylan’s hand a small squeeze. “What is it?” Dylan coos. “A vampire became his friend,” Evan says. “What!?” Dylan shouts as he flinches back. “Sh. We don’t want people to hear us.” Evan warns. “Sorry…” Dylan mutters looking embarrassed. “Anyways the vampire must’ve scented me out from the actual humans so he tried to threaten me to stay away from Sean. Course it didn’t work, but I’m still worried about what’s going to happen to Sean now that I’ve made that thing mad.” Evan says as he runs his fingers through his hair. “You can deal with a vampire easily.” Dylan says as he moves Evan’s hand to his butt. “I know, but that doesn’t mean I’ll always be there to protect Sean.” Evan says as he moves his hand away from Dylan’s butt. “Why aren’t you touching me?” Dylan asks sounding disappointed. “Let’s go to my dorm. We can talk more there.” Evan says as he runs his fingers through Dylan’s snow-white hair. “Can I stay with you?” Dylan asks as he follows Evan. “Turn into a cat and then you can.” Evan says. “Fine…”
Back at Evan’s dorm…
“This is a nice place.” Dylan says as he looks around Evan’s well-decorated dorm. “Thanks. Want a drink?” Evan asks. “Can we go to the bedroom?” Dylan asks as he lays on the couch in a seductive pose. “No.” Evan growls. “Not even one night?” Dylan asks as he tilts his head to the side. “Nope.” Evan replies coldly. “Awe. That’s disappointing.” Dylan complains. “Don’t care. Besides, we have more important things to worry about.” Evan says. “The vampire?” Dylan asks. “Bingo.” Evan replies grimly. “What are you planning to do?” Dylan asks as he sits up. “I’m not sure. I think I need more time to see what kind of hand I have…”
