~Chapter Fifteen~
~~Sunny's POV~~
“Sunny?” I heard Adrian say. Snapping me out of my conversation with Jake.
“Yeah?” I asked looking over at him with a smile on my face.
“Are you okay?” He asked me almost hesitantly.
“Everything is perfect.” I felt like everything in my life was finally going my way for once.
“Good.” He said nodding. I knew he wanted more than just my vague words, but he wouldn’t push me.
“You’re my mate.” I whispered out looking into the water than glancing at him through my lashes to see his reaction.
He looked surprised at my statement. Then a wide smile grew across his face like his mind finally registered what I just said.
He slowly walked over to me almost like he was afraid he’d spook me. I smiled and started to walk over to him. The water only slowing my pace down enough so I couldn’t be considered running but I definitely wasn’t walking.
He threw his arms open prepared to catch me. I all but flew into his outstretched arms. I hugged him as tight as I could without hurting him.
“Did he come back?” He asked out of nowhere.
I just nodded against his chest. Suddenly all the lies that Marcus fed me as a child seemed less real to me. It was Marcus who said I didn’t have a mate because he was my ‘mate’. I of course cursed at him and told him no. Then he would go and explain that every wolf only had one soul mate and that if I rejected him, I would never have a mate. I rejected him anyway because being mateless would be better than having to be with him. He then basically beat me to an inch of my life.
I forced myself to stop thinking about the past because I was in the present. I took a moment to enjoy the feeling of my mate’s arms around me. I might be the most and least luckiest wolf in the world.
