“And you will get none of that from either of these two.” A tall woman walked up to their table with a sneer on her rugged yet handsome face. “Let her go, Klaus. Now!”
“Anything for you, my queen.” Klaus released his grip and stood up to face the imposingly built woman. “Shall we dance?”
“Not even in your wildest dreams, pretty boy.” The tall woman laughed and then looked right at Iola. “Sidusca is almost my second home, miss... and for a small sum of six gold coins, I will take you there, help with what you need done and return you safely home.”
“Milady came to Grommet first...” Grommet sounded almost petulant.
“...and yet she will travel to Sidusca with me.” A six inch gleaming dagger seemed to magically appear in the the female mercenary’s sturdy hand and rest its pointed end at the bald one’s throat. “What say you, little one?”
“Little one! Wake up.” Dacia’s voice invaded her dreams. “It is time.”
Iola opened her eyes and yawned. “Has he come yet?”
“He will, and we must be at the table before he does.”
“I still can’t bring myself to understand what happened this afternoon.” Iola whispered, staring up at the low ceiling.
“A performer never reveals her secrets.” Dacia replied with a laugh, rising off the second bed in the little room they were renting.
