Chapter Seven
~~Adrian’s POV~~
God, I couldn’t stand to see her cry, but what was I supposed to do? I have no idea what she was crying about. She won’t even let me touch her.
Try a different approach. Dax, my inner wolf said.
And how am I supposed to do that?
Try to be less intimidating. I can tell that her wolf wants to come through but something is blocking them.
Fine, Dax this better work.
I had no clue what she would want to eat so I grabbed a bowl of salad, a piece of pizza and some left over steak from last night. I hope she actually likes this stuff.
She looks like she hasn’t eaten anything healthy in weeks!
Do you really think I didn’t notice that?!
I walked up the stairs and headed to the room she was in. So her name started with an S. I wonder what it was.
“Hey, I got food.” I said to her softly. She looked more composed now. Even I could tell she was beautiful. She was really underweight, but her natural beauty was unmistakable. She had nearly white hair which made sense since her fur was that color too. Her eyes were an amazing azure color.
“Can I just have the salad please?” She asked uncertain. She looked really nervous for some reason.
“Yeah of course!” I said handing her the bowl and a fork.
“Thanks” She said stabbing the lettuce with the fork.
“Uh Dax said that he could sense your wolf. He said that there was some kind of boundary blocking it from talking to you.” I said hoping this information would be helpful.
“I know. Jake told me that he was going to do that so that no matter what he wouldn’t talk to me. He wanted to try to save my energy. He said he would come back when I was finally back to my full health.” She said with despair in her voice.
“Why would Jake do that?” I asked her. I still wasn’t sure if this Jake was a female of male.
You dumbass! Jake is a dude! She literally said that it was a he earlier!
Well sue me for not hearing that part! I was more worried about her health!
“Uh well after… he said it would be best to try to save as much or my energy as possible and apparently maintaining a constant connection with your wolf uses a lot of energy.” She mumbled. I could tell that she really missed him.
“I’m so sorry.” I said. What else was I going to say?
“It isn’t your fault, its His.” She said referencing back to earlier. This man must be really terrible.
“Why… why did you become a rogue?” I asked trying to make the question as sweet as I could. I knew that this was going to be a sensitive question, but I still needed to know.
“I didn’t want to!” She said looking at me her eyes wide filled with fear. Oh god, she probably thought I asked the question thinking she did something bad which is how most rogues came about.
“No, no, no that’s not what I meant. I’m not asking you anything like that! I just meant what happened!” I said trying to calm her down. My hands were in front trying to calm her down.
“Are you going to kill me?” She asked out of nowhere. The fact that she asked me, her mate, that question stung.
“I couldn’t even imagine hurting you let alone doing that.” I said saying the absolute truth.
“Okay.” She said in a small voice.
