Chapter Five
Wait a minute! He’s my mate?! No way! I literally don’t have a soulmate. My soul died a long time ago! It died along with my whole family.
“No, I’m not.” I whispered quietly.
“I swear that, that is all my wolf has been saying since last night when I saw you.” He said petting my hair. It really helped me calm down.
“I… just… can’t.” I said thinking about how everyone suffered for me. I couldn’t live a happy life knowing everyone I ever cared about died.
“I won’t push you. Just being here with you is enough for me, for now.” He said leaning back on the bed which caused me to lay on top of him.
“I’m sorry, that I’m such a disappointment.” I said. A mate was supposed to complete you. They were literally the other half of your soul. Finding your soulmate was the happiest moment in a werewolf’s life and I’ve ruined it for him.
“You aren’t a disappointment. I don’t expect anything from you except maybe staying by my side, even as just a friend.” He said calmly.
“You’re a weird werewolf.” I said laughing.
“I know.” He agreed.
Maybe this mate thing won’t be too bad. I just can’t let myself be too happy, right?
“I think I’m just going to take a nap, okay?” I said yawning. Even though I just woke up less than two hours ago I was really tired. I blamed my wounds.
“Okay, I’ll stay with you.” He said hugging me.
