I drew the pages some days/weeks apart and tried several kinds of shading. I'm still not sure, whether to use cellshade or painterly style. Cellshade takes a lot less work/time and fits better to the coloring of the characters and effects (also it might be better for printing), but painterly is much more fun.. *sighs* I'm sure, I'll figure it out at some point, but for now, please be prepared for some more not-consistent-coloring haha... :'D
On another note: I'm not an English native speaker, so if you spot any mistakes, please don't be too shy to tell me, so I can fix them! ; v ;
To us, nightmares are something ordinary. They might not be pleasant, but we can handle them. But what would happen if those nightmares that are haunting you are not only influenced by your past, but also by a wicked creature pursuing its own desires? What if this creature took everything from you and your loved ones? And saw you only as its tool? And presented to you the worst possible version of your past in your dreams, every night, to torture you and darken your heart? What if you couldn't defend yourself, because the creature is always with you - as it's made its home inside of you?
That's the situation Xerxes has been living with for way too long now. The "thing" inside him gifts him a look on all the tremendous pain and loss it has caused him - every single night. Nobody has heard of such a creature ever before, therefore, even years later, Xerxes is on his own to find a cure which will set him free of this dark creature lurking inside of his heart.
With this comic I want to tell his story. If you're expecting an epic journey with a kindhearted hero saving the world, you can kindly scroll past, for this might be no story for you. Because sometimes, the biggest problems that need to be solved are wholly personal. :)
