“These hills form a natural border for Sidusca. We’ll be in the city before noon tomorrow.”
“I understand you’ve been there before.”
“A few times.” Dacia replied with a shrug.
Iola eyed her resourceful companion for a while. The two women couldn’t have looked more different from each other.
Iola’s waist-length dark silken tresses, soft green eyes, full lips and button nose on a heart shaped face, and her lithe and shapely figure adorned in simple rough spun ankle length dress, gave her an aura of sensuality and grace.
And Dacia, tall and muscular in her boiled leather armour and bedecked in deadly weapons, sporting a sharp, well defined face and unkempt shoulder length dark brown hair, emanated a very powerfully intimidating and yet charming presence.
“You must be well known in the city then?” She asked the mercenary with some concern.
“To a few.” The taller woman stifled a yawn. “But have no fear... none shall impede us. We will find your grandfather and get him out of there even before the sun sets.”
“I pray that it be so.” Iola lowered her eyes and sighed. “But we don’t know where he is being held.”
“There are three major strongholds that house
dungeons in Sidusca.” Dacia exhaled. “I know for I have been in all of them and
escaped from each one.”
“How will we know the one he is in?” The younger woman frowned. “If we are discovered, all will be in vain... for us, and my people.”
“You hired me for a reason, little one.” Dacia took one of the roasted rabbits off the fire and reached out to pat Iola’s shoulder. “Aside from the gold, have some faith in me. Now enjoy your meal and let us get some sleep.”
“Yes, we do have a challenging day ahead of us.” Iola agreed, taking an eager nibble of her share of rabbit.
