Phew! I published something and I'm proud of it!
*cheering for myself*
But you probably don't care. Anyways! Still Human is a short story I wrote in 2019 for a writing contest in my town for K-12 students. It wasn't limited to one school, which meant homeschoolers could enter too! Yay me! I've entered this contest... three years in a row now? Still Human goes a little too quickly for my taste as a complete story, lacking in worldbuilding and character building, but hey, for nearly eleven hundred words I wrote over the span of a few days, I'm pretty proud of it.
A few facts:
Still Human has 1,070 words.
My family was going skiiing over the weekend in the early spring when my mom told me the writing contest deadline was coming up. I panicked and somehow managed to write all this after we'd left the slopes and our aching legs had carried us back to the room.
I had the Origins album from Imagine Dragons playing while I wrote. I don't really like Bullet In A Gun. The songs I listened to the most were probably Zero and Natural.
The cover is made by me using a royalty free image.
I also published this on another site, Wattpad, a platform that originally shoved me further along my path to be a published author. I'm just a butterfly there.
