He opened the door with the spare key he had hanging off of his lanyard. The door swung towards us and he held open the door while bowing, motioning me to walk inside. "Golly don't I feel special!" I said with a southern accent. He had a pretty nice house, everything was very clean. When I walked into his unfamiliar house the realization of being in a boy’s house for the first time hit me. I tried to hide it, but I don’t think it worked since he put his arm on my shoulder, a common way for him to comfort and reassure me. I looked up at him and he gave me another one of his cunning and radiant smiles. I rolled my eyes and gave him an unamused little chuckle back.
He tells me all about how messy his room is but he was either lying, exaggerating, or he cleaned for me because his room smelled and looked amazing, just like the rest of his house. Not wanting to boost his ego I didn’t tell him how impressed I was. He motioned to his bed and I cautiously sat down. He knew me well and was aware that I was a little uncomfortable to be in a new environment.
Although it was clean, his room was very busy with multiple shelves of movies, videogames, and books. He turned his T.V. on, "Do you wanna play a video game?". I looked at his intimidating game DVD's. "I don't really play videogames, you'll have to teach me.”
I walked over to his collection and pulled out a well-known car racing game. He smiled as I brought it over to his game station. It was the only game that I recognized and I felt it was easy enough to teach me. I continued to glaze over his video games. Making my way to the movies I noticed a few of my favorites and smiled at the quotes that fled into my mind. I saw out of the corner of my eye him looking at me. I knew he could read my thoughts and he smiled as he focused back to his game station.
I glanced up at the books that were up higher on the shelf. Running my fingers delicately on the spines of the books I recognized a few. I looked up at the top shelf and chuckled when I saw a few “special” books. I pulled one off the shelf and looked at the cover. It seemed to be some sort of manga. On the front was a girl in an anime style holding a popsicle while in a bikini. Behind her seemed to be some sort of beach scene.
