I never expected my life to end up like this. It's funny. If I had a dollar for every time I've seen that line I would be sleeping in a fancy apartment instead of this alley. If............. There are so many if's. If this. If that. If I hadn't done this. If this hadn't happened. If is one of those words that can drive you mad. But you still need it but you hate that you need it.
It's raining. I don't know why i'm surprised. My life is made of misfortunes and problems............... Have you ever been called a demon? Like not in a joking way. But in a way that made you feel like the world would be rainbows and childhood scented candles if you died. Well I have. My mother screamed it at me as she threw me out with a five dollar bill and a "Go back to hell demon!" still ringing in my ears.
I sat on the cold cement steps of my childhood for hours clutching that five dollar bill. I still have it. I kept it as a reminder. A reminder for what. I don't know. It's just a reminder........ Anyway, during my little zone out the rain had gotten worse. It was like the sky was trying to kill me. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if it was. I didn't really care. I was already dead. I haven't eaten anything in a week and the only drink I've had was a few sips of rain water here and there.
Honestly, I thought I would be dead by now. I was so cold and tired. I couldn't even lay back against the wall. I refused to let my back make contact with the wall. Why? That's for me to know and for you pry out of my cold dead hands. It was the reason my mother called me a demon and kicked me out. I just sat on the floor of the alley listening to the rain and watched
cars go by as I thought about how long it would take for this rain to kill me.
But suddenly a limo pulled over and stopped at the entrance to the alley I was currently dyeing in. A girl my age stepped out holding an umbrella. Her skin was a little darker than pale and she had auburn brown hair that went down to her waist. With a pair of dark brown eyes. She was wearing a pair of dark blue jeans with a warm looking white sweater. With a nice pair of black converse shoes. She reached into the back seat and grabbed a warm looking coat. She slowly walked over to me. Trying to not scare me. I just looked at her as she walked over to me with a gentle look on her face. I didn't move as she bent down and wrapped the warm coat round me. She could stab me for all I care.
All I could think about was the fact that I was warm for the first time in months. I weakly pulled the coat around me as I curled tighter into a ball. I expected the girl to leave me here and never think of me again but instead of leaving she picked me up gently and started to walk to the limo. I didn't care where she was taking me. I was tired and cold. And she was comfortable and warm. She got in and held me on her lap. She's so warm. I was finally warm enough to sleep comfortably. So that's what I did. As I drifted to sleep I heard her talk to the driver. Her voice was gentle and warm, "Can you turn the heat up? She's freezing. And drive straight home." I heard a responding, "Yes, Miss." Before I was asleep.

When I woke up for a minute I thought the entire thing was a nightmare. That I would wake up at home to my mom humming as she made breakfast. But the vision shattered the second I opened my eyes. For the first time in months I didn't wake up half dead on a slab of concrete. The problem was I didn't know where I was.
I was completely dry and dressed in an oversize dress shirt. I was laying on a really comfortable bed that was bigger than my old room. I seemed to be in a standard rich person's guest room. I got up carefully. Still weak and probably very malnourished. I opened the door and stepped into the kitchen to see the girl that picked me up making breakfast............. Well making is a strong word. She had a maid that would fix whatever she was making when she turned around.
There was also a butler standing off to the side subtly holding a fire extinguisher. Everyone was too busy trying to make sure the girl didn't light anything on fire to notice I was here. So I silently walked over and sat on a chair ,careful not to let my back touch the back of the chair, as I waited for someone to acknowledge me. The maid turned around and saw me. She obviously didn't expect me to be there so she screamed so high pitched I had to cover my ears.
Everyone turned to see what made her scream. And when the girl that brought me here saw I was awake she squealed just as loud and high pitched as the maid. I wasn't used to it so on instinct I covered my ears and crawled under the table cloth. It was actually really peaceful under this table. You couldn't see anything around you.
I was careful to of course keep my back from touching the cloth. But after the girl realized I crawled under the table from shock she quieted down and carefully walked over, "Hey, i'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." She waited a minute for me to calm down, "My name is Mason. Whats yours?" I didn't say anything. If I was quiet maybe she would just let me stay under the table. She sighed when she realized I wasn't going to answer her.
I heard her get up and do something with a plate. A few seconds later she came back and sat next to the table. She slowly pulled up the table cloth to show me a full plate of food. My stomach growled loudly. She handed me a piece of bacon and pulled the rest of the plate away, "You can have the rest and anymore you want. But you have to tell me your name first." I decided I wanted the food enough to give in, "My name is Apep." My voice was barely above a whisper. She slid the plate back under the table, "It's nice to meet you Apep."
Author's Note - Hi everyone! I know I said I was going to do a Warrior 2 next. But I wanted to write this........... So I did! Anyway I'm going to make a Demon 2 very soon. You'll figure out why Apep never lets any flat surface touch her back. And of course more romance. And this doesn't really have to know this but I thought you might want to know. The Egyptian name Apep is connected to the root pp, which means ‘to slither.’ In Egyptian mythology, Apep was the personification of evil who was often seen as a giant serpent, snake or dragon. Since poor Apep gets called a demon by her mom I wanted a name to reflect that. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy my writing!
