a lot of people call me articulate. or shy. personally, the girl from across the road, ellie, had the best description : "the sort of person who is quite quiet but occasionally makes facial expressions or comments that makes you think that child is something extraordinary" I am very much ok with being called extraordinary. the same description, but without the speaking part, also fits my pet geko, Maurice. my first impression of ellie was not great. she was fifteen, underage for alcohol, and I was twelve. I believe the party was originally meant to be a housewarming that would be over by 10pm, so safe to invite a friend for a sleepover, so by 11pm, jace, ellie's brother who I invited for a sleepover, and I were very surprised when ellie dragged my older sister, esmeree, into my bedroom. the room was barely decorated, and jace had decided it was very bland so we made a pillow den. we were having a great conversation about the street we lived on when ellie stumbled in, clearly drunk despite being underage. I was shocked by this , and gave one of my 'extraordinary' expressions : a glare that my family is famed for. jace, oblivious to the stench of alcohol, ran up and hugged her. he's sweet like that. "hi guys ! is it ok if esmeree sleeps here tonight? her bedroom is ...taken." i didn't even have to try for my glare to intensify.
"sure!" jace says. "me and Harrison are gonna kip in the pillow den" ok I find it really cute whenever jace says that sort of thing.
"jolly good" ellie said, clearly drunk. jace came back to the pillow den, as ellie lay es down on my bed. I was quite wary of ellie, so watched her. she did something very unexpected: she kissed my sister on the forehead! esmeree hadn't said anything about a girlfriend, though I was pretty sure she was lesbian,so I grinned evily and said "reaaaalll smoootthhhhh." people would judge this as another one of my extraordinary comments. that one was more on the deductive side, though. blushing, ellie hurried out and I turned the light off. " your sister was drunk" I informed jace.
"so was yours" jace said groggily . " you don't get that sleepy unless you're really pissed" i had never heard him swear, and found it rather amusing.
"yeah, I swear when my parents aren't looking, get over it, go to sleep.." he grinned, squeezing my hand. I am not normally ok with physical contact, but I barely had a choice and he stayed like that for the whole night. he smiled in his sleep, our hands interlocked. And I'd only met him the previous day. my sister snored very loudly, and Maurice looked at me from his cage with an expression that read: "reeeaaallll smooottthhh…."
