I looked up only to be met with icy blue-gray eyes. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such unique eyes on anyone.
“You bullies should just go and take a hike.” The Stranger said.
“Nice one bro.” Jake said from behind me.
“Bro?” I asked no one in particular.
“Yeah he’s my older brother.” Jake said like it was obvious. When I still had a confused look on my face Jake sighed.
“Uhm…did you forget about said bullies” The guy two said looking impatient.
“Why don’t you punks just get out of here. Nobody gives a shit who your dads are.” Jakes brother said pushing me behind him as the two guys in front of changed their stances from talking to ready to fight.
Jakes brother made me feel really safe somehow. I don’t know if it was because he was like two feet taller than me or what but he just made me feel safe.
“Come at me pretty boy!” Guy one said raising his fists.
“Damon,” Mark said a warning tone towards Jake’s brother.
So his name was Damon. That name actually really suits him. He just has this icy demeanor about him. Plus he has the blackest hair I’ve ever seen. Everything about him screamed ‘don’t fuck with me’ and what did these two nimrods do? They fucked with him.
“C’mon Mark, they deserve it.” He said almost whining.
“No, Damon. If you end up killing one of them I’ll have to bring you in.”
“What? Kill one of them?” I asked nervously looking around waiting for them to say ‘gotcha’ but it never came. Instead Jake shrugged and gave an apologetic smile.
That seemed to actually freak the two guys out more than I thought it would. “We’ll let you off today fag but we’ll be back.” Guy one said pointing his finger at me before turning with his tail between his legs and running off.
“Great. It’s not like we don’t go to the same school or anything.” I mumbled feeling a sudden rush of both depression and exhaustion. I collapsed onto the ground to tired to even stand.
“Woah are you okay?” Damon asked me
“Yeah, I’m just tired.” I said laying down in an empty parking spot in front of the store.
“Are you sure because you look pretty dead.” Damon said looking down at me.
“I’m sure the bruises on my face really help me look dead,” I said sarcasm laced in my voice.
“Yeah that, too” He said clearly not picking up on my sarcasm.
“He was being sarcastic” Jake said as he went towards the store. “I gotta get ready for my shift.” Jake mumbled as he walked away.
“You gonna be okay little dude?” Mark asked looking back at me as he followed Jake inside.
“Yeah, I’ll be fine. It’s not like I haven’t been through this before.” I said letting out a loud sigh.
