Nick had shifted in his sleep once the blanket was over his shoulders. Axle laid back down and fell asleep once again. When he woke up the second time it was because a nurse was shaking his shoulder gently,
"Excuse me, sorry to wake you but you've been discharged."
Axle nodded and got up slowly to avoid waking Nick. The nurse changed his bandages and then Axle went and changed into a normal pair of clothes from his backpack. Axle usually had one pair of clothes because when he came home he'd be covered in blood and bruises. When he came out of the bathroom he saw Nick was sitting on the bed tapping his foot against the floor,
"Okay, let's get out of here."
Nick nodded and hopped up, we walked out of the hospital Axle grabbed his bag,
"Let's go to school. We'll be late but we'll get there before the fourth period."
Nick gave Axle a terrified look,
"You're going to go to school right after that?"
Axle sarcastically glanced at Nick,
"What did you expect me to go home?"
Nick huffed angrily,
"Whatever, you should be taking it easy."
Axle laughed,
"As if, let's just hurry."
They walked to the bus stop and waited until the bus showed up. They got on and sat in the back, Axle once again offered one of his earbuds to Nick. They arrived and quickly walked to school, both of them luckily still had their belongings because when the bus lit on fire, they kept their backpacks on until they had reached the gathering with the little girl they rescued. Their backpacks had somehow made it to the hospital, neither of them knew how but they at least had their stuff. When they walked through the doors and into the office to get late passes the lady at the front desk gasped,
"You're those kids on the news, the ones that saved three people from that burning bus. Right?"
Nick and Axle nodded,
"Yeah but we were on the news?"
The front lady nodded and pulled out her phone to show us a clip from the news. It was Axle holding the little girl, he was bouncing her slightly since she was crying.
"Is everyone here! We have a little girl here, does anyone know where her parents are?"
The girl's father rushed up and was holding his daughter as someone yelled about the driver. The person kept filming as Nick and Axle ran back towards the bus, they later came back with the driver. The recorder focused on a woman yelling how she couldn't find her daughter. Axle ran back to the bus, the smoke was thick that when he dived into the bus he was lost in the smoke. Axle emerged with the girl and the recorder zoomed in on Axle's face which was covered ins soot, Axle looked so serious it scared himself. Nick ran over and helped him get the girl to the mother. The recorder filmed how the ambulances showed up and Axle doubled over coughing from the smoke, that's when the video stopped. The front desk lady looked at Axle's arm,
"Are you sure you're okay to come to school?"
Axle nodded and the lady gave them each passes,
"It's lunchtime now so just head to lunch."
Axle nodded, he and Nick went to the lunchroom,
"I'm only going to say hi to my friends Coldy and Bea then I'm going to go get make-up work."
Nick nodded,
"Same."
Axle and Nick walked through the lunchroom doors and split ways, Axle headed to his usual table and ruffled Beas hair once he got there. Bea turned around and screamed. She jumped up and hugged him,
"Oh thank god you're okay, I was so worried you idiot."
He laughed,
"Careful of my arm, sorry for worrying you."
Right after Bea let go Cody was hugging Axle,
"Man why do you do this to us."
Axle patted Cody's back,
"Sorry, I have to tell you two something later on today, okay? It's important."
They both nodded. Axle smiled,
"I've got to go get my make-up work. I'll see you after school."
They both nodded and Bea loudly yelled,
"OKAY BYE AXLE."
A couple of heads swiveled and Axle facepalmed walking away. He walked up the stairs and knocked on Mr. Sooza's classroom door.
"Come in."
Axle walked in and Mr. Sooza looked up, there was another one of Axle's teacher's standing at his desk, Mr. Thomsen. Mr. Sooza gasped,
"What happened to your arm?"
Axle laughed,
"Check yesterday's news."
Mr. Thomsen stuck out his hand for Axle to shake,
"Who knew you were such a brave kid. Good job."
Axle chuckled nervously, he didn't like all the attention he was getting,
"Thanks, I'm here for my make-up work."
Mr. Sooza nodded and handed him a couple of pieces of paper and Axle left, he proceeded to go to all of his morning classrooms to get his work. No one else seemed to know of the bus accident yet, which Axle was thankful for. He made it back to the lunchroom and grabbed some food, Axle then went and sat next to his friends.
