They say home is your haven from school, or school is your haven from home... but for Axle, neither are correct. Whether being beat up by bullies, or beat up by his family, none are a sanctuary to either.
Axle's alarm goes off and he vaguely remembered hitting the snooze. He tries to get ready for school before it goes off again. Axle sneaks across the hardwood floor in the morning to avoid waking anyone in his household. He rapidly changes into a T-shirt and jeans. He tiptoes down the stairs where he makes a scrambled egg and a piece of toast, after eating he heads back upstairs to brush his teeth. He grabs his backpack and a light jacket cause it's fall time. Axle thinks he hears a small creak from down the hall and bolts out the door. He doesn't stop running till he makes it to the bus stop, he rests his hands on his knees as he pants. Even though his parents and brother are abusive, they gave him a phone... mostly so they could text him how worthless he is, but Axle uses it for music. He plugs in his earbuds and drowns out everything going on around him. Axle usually waits 15 minutes till the bus rolls up, listening to music the entire time. A rumbling sound makes Axle look up and he sees a public transport bus pull to where the stop is, the doors swing open and Axle hops on. Axle is a Junior in high school and is almost completely invisible... almost. A group of seniors beat him up on a weekly bases and his parents don't help with that. With the seniors, it's a beating, but with his family, it's a couple of punches, a couple kicks, a bunch of insults, and usually a knife. Axle sits in the very back to avoid people while he listens to his music. When Axle makes it to school he goes and stands by the doors until the bell rings. He continues to listen to music until the bell clangs, he muscles his way in through the crowds. Someone elbows him in the gut, they turn around and Axle's met with a pair of honey-brown eyes. The guy apologizes but it's lost in the noise of the student, Axle simply nods to show he understood. Axle makes his way to his first-period class after putting his stuff in his locker. He plops down in his seat just as the second bell rings. His friend Cody takes his assigned seat next to Axle, they fist bump and then take out what's needed for the class. The teacher, Mr. Sooza, begins his teachings. Axle always like Mr. Sooza, mostly because he disliked the seniors who bullied Axle, but he was a nice teacher who tried to help any student. He also didn't favor any students or raise his voice, EVER. Axle flew through his classes, he was a pretty good student who got all A's, did decently in tests, and participated in track & field when the season came around. At lunch, Axle sat with his two best friends, Cody and Bea. Bea was a Senior, but since Freshman & Sophomore were grouped for lunch, Junior & Senior were grouped.
"What's up Losers!"
Axle feels his hair being ruffled as Bea sat next to them, Axle laughed as Cody swatted at Bea's hand. Axle didn't mind since he usually never got symbols of affection, they all chatted through-out lunch until the bell rang again. Axle raced to his locker to put his lunch box away, he scaled two stairs at a time until he had to stop before he ran people over. He was so close to the top but two idiots were purposely walking as slow as snails up the last step. There was one person in front of him. Axle heard the kid let out a sigh of disappointment since the kids wouldn't let him through Axle growled and pushed his way in front of the kid and plowed into the one at the top. The guy toppled over and as he laid on the ground Axle yelled,
"Man! What's your problem! Some of us have places to be so DON'T stand at the top of the stairs keeping other people from moving!"
Axle could hear people ooo-ing as He walked away to his locker.
