“Please come. Have a seat. We are all friends here, yes.” said the mysterious man.
“What are doing to our world?” Kate yelled.
Theo interjected “We’ve come to stop you. Close the rifts now and you might have a light sentence.”
The man said nothing and stepped closer to them. Then in the blink of an eye, he dashed forward and began to attack. Kate and Theo reacted immediately and the fight began. On the sidelines, the little elf scanned the man to find out his powers. Once his picture was ready he tossed it to Kate for examination. After she read it, she stopped in her tracks.
She yelled “Theo! Wait! Don’t attack him! He’s too dangerous!”
But it was too late. The man activated his powers. He can teleport things and that’s exactly what he did to Kate and Theo. He opened a rift and forced them through it. Next thing they knew they were falling through a strangely unknown sky. Once they landed, they noticed they were in a bustling city.
A guy with a long nose walked up to them and said “Hey I saw you kids fall from the sky! No way anyone normally would survive a fall like that! That means you guys must be heroes. You guys should take the power test! It just so happens to be right over here!”
So the nose guy pushed them along to the testing site that had a sign labeled Hero Society and signed them up even though they didn’t want to. Their first test was a writing exam. Unfortunately, they got stuck writing a five-page fictional essay on what not to do while flying and falling. Then, they had to do a physical exam to test their strengths. Kate decided to create a fake 100 lb barbell and started to lift it. Meanwhile, Theo made the floor slippery with thin ice and pushed himself along with some of his wind powers. Finally, the last test was upon them. The Hero Society had hired a fake psychic to see if anyone was lying or not. So they were put in a dark, creepy room and were asked a single question that was presented to them. A question that would determine the fate of their exam. Yes, a marvelous question.
And that question was…“Hey, you guys heroes or what?”
Kate and Theo looked at each other and both said “Yes.”
The psychic then said, “Ok, you pass.”
With that Kate and Theo successfully passed their exams! They went into the grand hall to await their final scores. They then realized that they didn’t care about their score since they didn’t even want to take the test in the first place so they left and walked outside. Theo, without looking where he was going, bumped into a man who wore a fancy suit.
Theo said, “Hey, get the heck outta my way waffle-head!”
The other guy said “Who are you calling a waffle? You pancake!”
Theo snapped back “You wanna go, mate? You got me all buttered up now!”
“Butter makes you fat, chubby!” The other guy replied.
Kate intervened and said, “Cut it out you sacks of flour!"
Across the street, a strange little marshmallow man waved hand signs no one could understand the meaning of fully at another guy he was walking with. Thankfully he wrote a note and handed it to him.
“Oh ok, no problem. I’ll finish moving my junk over without you then.” said the first guy.
After Theo stopped arguing with the man in the suit, Kate explained everything to the guy who said his name was Jeff.
“Wow, that’s quite an imagination you kids have, you honestly think an adult will fall for that crap? Just be direct and say you wanna steal my wallet." Said Jeff.
The marshmallow man from across the street walked over Jeff and Theo and he wrote on his notepad and showed it to Jeff.
“Whoa! Mark!? Dude it’s been forever, you haven’t changed a bit… I'd love to catch up but I’m really tired, just got the crap kicked out of me by some psycho hero.”
Jeff then left and made his way home and the kid named Mark showed Kate and Theo what he was writing.
It said “Something tells me you two aren’t from around here. No one in Salty City enjoys talking about waffles that much.”
Kate just laughed hysterically. Theo explained that they needed help getting back to their world and fast.
Marky wrote, “Follow me.”
