Pip's descent to the ground slowed until he floated gently onto the soft grass. He gasped turning around and rubbed his face into the grass, happy to be on solid ground. He never wanted to feel like that ever again. He laid there, catching his breath.
Up aboveBasil was freaking out, "Pip," He called down, "Are you alright?"
"Yeah," Pip gasped, "Yeah," He called louder, "I'm fine."
Basil sighed in relief, "How did, how did I do that?"
"Oh no, you didn't do that, but you certainly came close, we're going to have to try a different method to get your powers to come forward." Her tone was casual as if she was talking about the weather.
"No."
Nyla laughed, "You're not exactly in a position to say no Basil. I'm offering you the chance to be the most powerful person in the world. Why wouldn't you want that?"
Basil didn't have an answer to that. All he knew was he wanted to get the hell out of dodge. Away from all this, just he and Pip, no one else. But that wasn't exactly an option. He may have the potential to become powerful but he's not there yet. Right now, he couldn't do jack shit. And he hated the feeling of knowing there was no way out. He'd have to stick it through to the end. Whether he wanted to or not.
Nyla looked at the defeat on his face and knew she'd won, for now.
"Great. Let's get started shall we." Nyla walked out of the room ad Basil looked out the window to check on Pip. He was passed out on the grass, probably from the shock.
Nyla's head popped around the corner, "We don't have all day." They made there way back down the stairs and to the courtyard. Stopping every now and then for Nyla to say hi to the people
Nyla led him down a hall and they walked into a room with nothing but a chair and a table with instruments on it that Basil couldn't recognize.
He didn't know it at the time, but he would be spending the majority of his time in this room over the next few weeks, maybe even months.
It was white and smelled like a hospital room, come to think of it, looked like one as well.
"Sit down," Nyla ordered, gesturing to the metal chair in the center of the room. Basil hesitated at the door. Nyla sighed, "You know I meant it when I said we didn't have all day," Nyla pursed her lips, getting impatient, "Listen, you're not going to die, okay. I'm not gonna throw you out of a window or anything else your thinking of."
Still not reassured, Basil took a seat in the chair and almost immediately, two straps of leather floated off the table to his right and tied themselves around his wrist. He pulled at his wrist but the straps were wound very tight, "What the...?" Basil looked up at Nyla who was probing the table, looking for something in particular, "You said nothing bad was going to happen."
"No, I said you wouldn't die. There's a difference." She picked up a metal rod from the table about a foot long stood before him," Now there are two ways to go about getting your abilities to the surface. One: Shock the senses," She said, waving the object in front of him.
"And the second?" Basil asked, tentatively taking in the object, wondering what it would be used for.
"That will only come into play if this method doesn't work."
"Wh-" Before Basil could finish his sentence, Nyla prodded him the object sending a jolt of electricity through him, causing his body to convulse and freeze up before she pulled away.
Basil breathed heavily, "What the fu-ughgnngh" His body convulsed again. His whole body vibrated when she stopped probing him with the device. It was a weird sensation to be followed after an intense spurts of pain.
It went like this for hours, Nyla upping the amperage on the device, causing each shock to be more painful than the last, the sun setting long into there session as Basil would soon come them.
His whole body was sore and hot, his arms and abdomen were bloody where Nyla administered the shocks. He looked at her through heavy-lidded eyes.
"How much more?" His voice was hoarse and raw from his shouts of pain. Nyla put her hand on his limp arm feeling how hot it was, "Just a little more, "She said as she administered another shock." Basil back arched and he grit his teeth, before slumping back into the chair. His head pounded. He feared he would pass out any second now.
He groaned as he watched her up the amperage to the highest it could go, "If this doesn't work we'll have to try something else," She said administering one final shock.
"Arghghgh" Basil gurgled on his own spit, drool spilling from his mouth, his head pounded and he closed his eyes to the pain.
This went on for what felt like hours when the pulsing left his head and traveled down his through to his arm and turned into energy that made him feel alive.
This energy ran through his body, and flashes of light pulsed down Basil's arms, it looked as though his veins had lit up and the chair arm in his grip caught fire. Basil screamed and tried to pull away from the fires kisses, but after his momentary lapse, he realized the flames were touching his skin but there was no burning sensation, all he could feel was warmth.
The fire burned through the leather straps until they were nothing but ash and died out on his skin, searing the hairs on his arm in the process.
"Well, it's not exactly what I was hoping for," Nyla had put down the object she used to electrify him, "But it's a start."
Basil stood up, suddenly feeling energized. All the wounds from the device were gone, leaving nothing behind but dried blood.
Nyla had a guard escort Basil back to his room, where he found Pip coming out of the shower with a towel around his waist. He watched as water dripped from Pip's hair onto his stomach and trailed down to his hips before disappearing into the towel.
Basil was for the first time in his life, at a loss for words.
"Bay?" Pip waved his hands in front of Basil's face.
He blinked, "Uh sorry."
Pip started dressing for bed, "I said, what happened?"
"Uhh" Basil couldn't tear his eyes away from Pip's body, "Umm, she shocked me until I set fire to my restraints.
"What!?" Pip had finished getting dressed and sat on the bed, patting beside him, Basil obeyed his silent command, "Is that what you did? All day?"
"Pretty much."
"Holy shit, "Pip pulled his hand away from Basil's arm, "Dude you just burned me," Pip showed his now red palm, "That's so cool," He excitedly shoved Basil.
"Hey," Basil went to shove Pip back, but he overestimated his strength and accidentally shoved him off the bed. Pip yelped.
"You dick." Pip jumped up and lunged for Basil knocking him over. They wrestled, both fighting for control. When Basil had enough he flipped them over grabbing Pip wrist's and wrapped his thighs around his waist, successfully pinning him to the bed.
Pip laughed, "I guess you win this battle. But mark my words." Pip chest heaved and Basil came to the realization that he could feel Pip every breath against his crotch. He squeezed his thighs around Pip and brought his face closer.
"Bay?"
Basil moved back, letting go of Pip's wrist, "I'm tired. Let's go to bed." He said flopping on his side of the bed turning away from Pip.
"You don't want to cuddle?" Pip placed his hands on Basil's waist, dangerously close to his little soldier.
Basil cleared his throat, "Uhh no, I'm really tired."
"Oh," Pip frowned, "Okay."
Basil could hold back for all of two seconds before he was turning around and wrapping his arm around Pip hip, willing his little friend d to go down.
Pip smiled and snuggled closer, putting his head in Basil's neck, kissing his collarbone, "Goodnight," He murmured.
"Night."
