"Is that a threat?"
"No, and I wouldn't be asking you if I didn't have a choice, I want you to know that."
"Your words don't mean shit to me."
"Well, maybe these words will," Nyla huffed, stopping in place, "Cyrus is coming, and we can't protect these walls forever," Nyla took a deep breath, preparing herself for the worst, "And the only person who could protect these walls and the people inside it, is you."
Basil stopped too, to turn around and yell at her, "Jesus Christ, you'll just about say anything to get what you want."
"You are special, even if you don't know it."
"Oh please, the on;y special thing about me is how I've managed to drive all but one person away from me. Now that's special." Basil had started walking again.
"I can prove it."
"How?"
"Like this," Nyla said as she grabbed Pip and started to drag him in the direction of the stairs. Basil hot on her heels.
"What are you doing? Hey, let go of my arm." Suddenly Pip went limp, not putting up a struggle anymore.
Basil freaked out, "Pip? Pip, hey can you hear me?" PIp was unresponsive.
"What did you do?" Basil lunged at her, but his feet slowed, it felt like he was moving in quicksand.
Nyla walked up to the stairs disappearing around the corner. Basil was stuck, he couldn't move, no matter how much he willed his legs to do so. Eventually, he couldn't feel them, they had gone numb.
Nyla kept making her way to the top of the tower, dragging Pip behind her.
"Why are you doing this?" Pip said once he'd realized he got his voice back. They were halfway up the stairs now, just a few more stairs.
Nyla ignored him until they got to the top of one of the towers, "Just giving him a little motivation." Then she waited.
Back downstairs Basil regained feeling in his legs. As soon as he could move he was racing up the stairs. When he got to the top he stopped at the entrance to the room at the top of the tower, a pressure came upon his chest and he felt the air leave his lungs.
As soon as he saw Pip his nostrils, "Let him go."
Nyla smiled, "Oh, I'm planning to." She looked pointedly at the window to her left.
Basil's eyes followed hers he tried to take a step forward, but he was still stuck in whatever spell thing she had him under.
Nyla sighed, walking to the edge of the window, Pip practically floating after her.
"Stop, okay. I'll do whatever you want," Basil looked at Pip, who looked about as terrified as Basil felt, "Just don't hurt him, please."
"I wasn't going to hurt him," Nyka shrugged, "Not intentionally anyway."
Basil frowned, he didn't know what she meant by that. Nyla noticed his confusion and explained,
"Right, let me explain." Nyla sat in one of the chairs in the room, Pip was still standing idly, "When we talked earlier about how you were magic, I didn't stress enough how special you were. I found out that not only were you one of the rare ones-" Rare what? Basil thought, "But you also had multiple abilities, which added to your rarity. You were one of a kind" She was speaking about him like he was a novelty, a painting or a rare jewel. He didn't like it, not one bit.
"Anyway," she sighed, "The plan was to never tell anyone when your abilities came to fruition, I would explain to you why no one could ever know." Nyla's eyes filled and she blinked, pushing out mock tears, "But Cyrus found out. To this day I still don't know how he could have found out, I mean not just about your abilities, but about your existence.
"But when Hera died I freaked, I got the hell out as soon as possible."
Basil was growing impatient, "Just get to the point already."
"You are the most powerful individual in both my world and yours, magic wise."
Basil started laughing, and once he started he could stop, "You-you want me to believe," He bent over, his abdomen hurt from laughing so hard, "I don't have a special bone in my body. And I've never done a special thing in my life."
"That's not true," Pip cut in, it was reflex to defend him at this point in their friendship.
"Ahhh, see that's where Pip comes into the picture."
Basil was once again back to being confused.
Nyla was once again standing at the window, Pip's shirt between her fingers.
"I'm going to toss Pip out this window," Their reactions were immediate, Pip struggled in her loose grip and Basil tried to reach him, "Eheheh, not so fast. The fall is about 25 meters, he'd hit the ground in about 2 seconds. Unless you save him."
"What no-I can't-no-."
"Three."
"Stop, I don't know what-" Basil pleaded.
"Two."
"Please." Basils voice was frantic now.
"One." And like that Pip was flying out the window to his death. His scream could be heard all throughout the compound.
"Nooooo," Basil ran to the edge reaching out his hand and hoping-praying- visualizing that something would happen.
Anything
And miraculously, It did.
