Ben's POV
I grabbed Oliver's hand and led him into my room.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
I glanced to see Oliver's knuckles were white, his hand was clenched so tight. I looked back up at Oliver to see he was making a face that mixed anger and sadness. Oliver suddenly hugged me,
"I'm not letting you go to your mothers."
I was shocked,
"Um, why exactly?"
Oliver hugged me tighter making at a little difficult to breathe,
"She hurts you." He said simply.
My knees felt weak as panic took over, how did he know.
"N-no she doesn't"
Oliver pulled away,
"Then explain your nightmare."
I could feel tears forming at the corner of my eyes. I collapsed into Oliver's arms as he slowly sat down still hugging me. I began to cry thinking about going there. My door banged open as my father rushed in,
"What happened?"
Oliver hugged me tighter as I kept my face buried in his shoulder,
"I don't know what your ex-wife is doing to him, but it's not good."
I hugged Oliver starting to sob, I felt my Dad's hand rubbing my back trying to comfort me. I heard Oliver speaking to my Dad,
"I know I don't have any authority of what happens, but I'm not allowing him to go anywhere near her until it's sorted out."
I heard my Dad speak softly to me as I continued to bawl into Oliver's shirt
"You hear that, she's not going anywhere near you, it's okay."
I tried to say thank you, but it came out as a weird noise.
I felt Oliver grab my face again wiping some of my tears away,
"Just breathe with me again, okay?"
I nodded and followed his pace of breathing for a while. Oliver went back to hugging me as I kept breathing, slowly calming down. Oliver started to hum again, and I felt myself calm down until I wasn't crying as hard anymore.
"I'm impressed kid. You are amazing at calming people down."
Oliver laughed, still hugging me,
"I had some rough middle school years this was the way my mom would calm me down enough to tell her what was wrong."
I sat up and wiped away my tears and noticed my Dad looking around for something,
"Hey Ben, where's your dog?"
Me and Oliver froze. Oliver turned to me,
"Should we just tell him, I think he'd be okay with it."
I nodded as Oliver closed his eyes and a bright light filled the room. When the light faded, German Shepard Oliver was sitting next to me. My Dad's mouth was hanging open as he gaped like a fish out of water. Oliver returned to human form in a flash of light. My Dad shook his head trying to get ahold of himself,
"Thanks for protecting my son."
Oliver laughed,
"No one should go through that."
I felt Oliver use his sleeve to wipe away the rest of my tears,
"Now let's focus on you, what is your mom doing to you?"
