"When the Earth began to sprout life, a darkness full of pain and suffering threatened all that was with its cloak of overwhelming power. With each step, the soil would turn black and sterile, and with each violent careless twitch, destruction was inevitable. Then, when all hope seemed to be lost, six celestial beings stopped the figure in its tracks. They fought with so much might and nobility that their actions seemed to take form. It is said that the most beautiful of the Celestials encapsulated this by fighting with the most determination and ferociousness that her attacks sprung new life every time she hit the ground.
As the figure weakened, the beautiful Celestial gave the final blow and cut through the shadowy figure. The Celestials then circled the figure that knelt before its victors. It was witnessed that in its final moments, the figure reached out to its foes and whispered something to the beautiful Celestial, however, no human knows what was said. The figure then crumbled and the earth was spared.
Time passed and the celestial beings kept watch over the planet as its guardians, and as the humans became aware of their existence, the humans started to worship them as Gods, and thus each one was given a title. Roxana, the celestial being who outshone all was named Celestial of the Sun; Losana, the celestial being who caused darkness and was associated with dreams and the mind was named Celestial of the Moon; Gale, the celestial being who conjured winds and distorted weather was named Celestial of the Wind; Tethys, the celestial being who could bend water and control the leviathans was named Celestial of the Waves; Zarvan, the celestial being who was overseer of birth and death and space-time was named Celestial of Time; and lastly the most beautiful of the celestial beings, Fiora, the being who ruled nature, the champion who destroyed the shadow, was named Celestial of the Roses.
These Celestials, in the beginning, lived without interfering with the lives they oversaw due to living by a single rule, duty before self, and they were adamant about following that rule. However, with only being witnesses to the splendid lives below, their curiosity set them loose on the world. They began to discover every happiness and sorrow the world had to offer, and by the end, each fell in love with someone of pure heart and thus, brought forth new life. But, because of the betrayal of their oath, fate was cruel to them. They could not stay with their families for the power of the pure Celestials was too great for the planet alone to handle, their human shells crumbled and disappeared. However, before completely passing, the Celestials built each child a palace where they would have to carry out the duty of a Celestial. But, all was not well.
As the children grew, a strain was beginning to be seen on such young minds, the children began to suffer as their parents did. To cope with the responsibility it was suggested that all children gather once a year to discuss and help each other as they grew to become leaders instead of Gods. With such support, the children grew to become powerful and refined as their Celestial parents, but this did not extend to the 'Kingdom of Roses'.
Because of her remarkable beauty, the young Celestial of Roses was the victim of almost daily attempted kidnappings and assassinations that she was rarely seen. It was also a problem that she was the only heir to a territory that was not established, unlike the other kingdoms that had at least two children. Her land was always covered in vines and thorns to protect herself, isolating herself to the point no one knew what she looked like. Not fully accustomed to her power, she always tried to find ways to protect herself, trying to keep all away.
Then, a letter arrived in her lands, it stated that the yearly gathering was to commence and would be held at the Kingdom of Time with the three sons of the Celestial, being the hosts. The father of the Rose Princess rejoiced as this was the answer to their problem for he could not bear to see his daughter in such a state."
The young woman reading felt her eyes become heavy and her stomach turned upside down, she then turned the page.
"The Rose Princess read the letter that her father placed in her hand. At first, she rejected the idea of ever stepping out of the territory, however, she knew nothing would be accomplished by becoming a hermit. The princess started to prepare for the day of the gathering for it was a lengthy journey, and the day to depart came sooner than she hoped. At age 14, no one would have imagined this person to be so headstrong, her heart was a never-stopping drum, her image statuesque to her people, and her roses forever followed her in her path. Her people could not help but stare as she went into the carriage, she saw as they all wished her a safe trip: her servants, and the other common folk. But, the more she stared the more she saw the real intent on their face, some of them showed sheer worry, some of them unconditional love, some of them horrific lust, and some wore horrendous obsession. The princess turned away as she felt she would vomit on sight.
"Please do not look at me like that", she thought as her father closed the door.
The father saw as his child was in distress and held her tightly, he never wanted harm to come to her and he would never allow it. The princess felt safe in her father's arms, she thought of simpler times when her mother was still here, powerful and beautiful, you never saw her scared or wavering. The princess wondered how life would change after today, could something change just by going somewhere?
The Time Kingdom was a mysterious realm, and the three hosts were even more so, the three princes held a power that made people tremble. Time manipulation without restriction was what everyone thought of when they heard of their late parents' name, Zarvan, but that was not the case. The time came to start their gathering, which was more of a ball, and they began to greet their guest, the eldest brothers, ages 18 and 16, smiled and chattered, however, the youngest, age 14, seemed timid and just bowed at the sight of each prince and princess. But, as all three looked forward, they saw a sight to behold, in a cherry blossom satin gown, white trim on the top that gave designs on the sleeves, and flowers decorating her curly hair. The princes were in awe as the Rose Princess stood before them and gave a curtsey, and right then and there they were entranced, especially the youngest prince. Throughout the night, the princes would peek at where she was, but the only one who could find her and get near was the youngest prince.
As they conversed, they found they shared hardships and similar ailments. A friendship was then born, and for the first time, the Rose Princess felt as if a real connection was made with a person that was not based on her supernatural beauty. However, as time passed and she grew older, her beauty grew to the point of her mental state deteriorated. Due to assaults and kidnappings becoming oh so frequent, the princess again barricaded herself in a cocoon of thorns, until the Time Prince came at the request of the princess's father. As they spent more time together, a love blossomed between them, and eventually, the prince married into the Rose Kingdom.
The Rose Princess now became the Rose Queen and was now with child, but wherever she turned, the danger seemed to lurk and shadows seemed to attack her, her cries filled the palace with fear of her child not being able to be born. The Rose Queen's madness only seemed to grow as her power lashed out and created chaos towards all who came near her. Her outburst became too frequent and dangerous, for the prince, now King, once found her disfiguring herself to make the attacks stop. Thus, he could not leave her alone anymore. The King then had an idea, to create a separate palace underground for his pregnant wife to make her feel safe. But, to assure her safety, he decided to use his power as the Celestial of Time. With the power to control time, many sacrifices had to be made to use a spell for one's benefit. And, a deal was made between the King and Queen to protect their child and ensure the bloodline continues. The King sacrificed his left leg, arm, and eye to ensure the family's protection, however, that was nothing compared to what the future heirs would suffer due to the contract.
The heirs to the Rose Kingdom were finally born and the Queen's sanity slowly came back, but as the parents saw their children in their arms, they were afraid for their futures. The King hugged his family tightly as he thought, "What adversity will you face, I'm afraid, I'm afraid for you my children".
The young woman suddenly collapsed and her eyes showed a sadness that begged for a moment of peace.
