Emmet woke up to very loud birdsong. The sun was already up and grass was tickling his skin. He yawned and still half asleep scratched his leg that had some mosquito bites on it. Slowly, as he woke up better, he became more and more aware of the fact that the gentle breeze that also rustled the tree branches, felt pretty chilly, especially in, uh, places where it really shouldn't feel like that. Emmet quickly sat up driven by this very uncomfortable idea that had formed in his head, and which was very soon confirmed to be true with a quick glance to his body. He was stark naked. And in the middle of a forest too, as another glance revealed. Emmet stumbled while trying to get up and trying to shake and slap off all trash and insects that had been climbing on him while he was sleeping. His light brown hair was a mess and he had scratches on his skin.
He stopped suddenly when he saw a body few meters away. Sun shined through the leaves on the pale skin and some kind of fuzz had got stuck in the gray, slightly wavy hair. Emmet held his breath contemplating whether he should go closer or not. What if that person was dead? Not much he could do if that was the case but shouldn't he check at least? Carefully he sneaked closer but stopped, when the body groaned and the hand moved to scratch the cheek.
Emmet muffled a surprised sound with his hand and quickly jumped behind the nearest tree. It was quite a slim tree actually, not very good for hiding since it didn't cover him completely, but that was something he didn't think about while just trying to stay out of this possible creeper’s sight.
His heart was beating in his chest as he was again suddenly very conscious about being naked. More sounds came from the direction of the body; quiet mumbling and rustling as the body moved. Emmet peeked from behind the tree but moved quickly right back. The body, or a person rather, had got up and was now leaning against a tree.
Emmet tried to think. What should he do now? He had no idea where he was or who that person was. He really needed to get out of here but how?
“Hey, all you alright?”
The question made Emmet jump and turn around. He noticed he was facing the person that had just been standing at least three meters away and had somehow crossed that distance without making any noise. And to Emmet’s biggest surprise that person was a girl. She stood there, leaning slightly to the tree and looking worried.
Emmett’s first reaction was to blush and bashfully look away. The girl was naked too and didn’t particularly try to cover anything.
“What did you do to me?” he ask and then quickly tried to cover himself with his hands. This was embarrassing “Where the hell are we? And why are we naked?”
His memory of the night was very foggy. Emmet remembered being very sick and going outside but after that everything was just haze. Had he been kidnapped by this girl? That didn’t seem very logical. How could just one girl kidnap a guy of his size. But what else could this mean?
“You don't remember?” the girl asked and pursed her lips. Emmet shook his head and tried his best to keep his eyes on the girl's face. He didn’t want to let his eyes wander but this girl really didn’t seem bothered by not having clothes on or cover herself. Emmet felt himself blush a little and he turned his eyes away. She could at least try to cover herself a little bit.
“I guess it's pretty normal in your situation,” the girl said but didn't really explain what she meant by that.
Emmet shifted his gaze back to the girl making sure not to look anywhere below her neck. This was so absurd.
From up close, the girl's skin was even paler than what it had looked like before. She had muddy brown eyes and her hair was dark grey, slightly wavy and shoulder length. She also had dark shadows under her eyes. In addition, she also had cuts and scars all over her body that were easy to see on the pale skin. Emmet couldn't help but wonder where they all had come from.
“My name's Rena,” the girl said suddenly and stretched out her hand for a handshake.
“You can call me Emmet, “ Emmet said but didn't take the hand. Rena seemed to quickly understand why and with an awkward smile let her arm fall to her side. Emmet hoped he had something to cover himself with.
Before Rena could say anything, Emmet opened her mouth: “But yeah, where are we? I need to get back home.”
His parents must be worried sick, their son just disappearing in the middle of the night.
Rena was silent for a moment, looking very serious.
“I'm sorry but I don't think it's a good idea,” she said then.
“What are you talking about?” Emmet replied, almost angrily. What did she mean it wasn't a good idea? What kind of nonsense was that? How could it not be a good idea to go home after disappearing without any explanation and being away from home for whole night?
“You really don't remember?” she asked. Emmet shook his head again, now worried. What was going on?
“Gods, this is gonna be hard to explain,” she sighed.
