A fidgeting assistant makes his way to the brown haired scientist. "Sir, I think I might have found the information you were looking for. There's something weird about it though."
"What do you mean weird?"
"Well, you wanted to be kept updated on the investigation started due to an anonymous tip with no name given for the suspect, but no such tip was made on the date in question. What was submitted on that date was a tip that includes the offender's name, sent from a flagged account." The boss looks genuinely confused.
"Flagged how? Like for sending false reports?"
"No, the information is classified, but it's registered to someone with a possible information gathering power. The tip still needs to be verified, but it has a level six creditably indication marker." Even tips accompanied by video evidence rarely gets higher than four.
"And you're sure it's the one I asked you to look into?"
"Everything else lines up. Two more reports have been made with the account since then, each more insistent that action be taken. The last one, received only an hour ago, sounds desperate. The good news is the investigation is almost complete." His boss looks at their research thoughtfully. Two cases of different colored pills sit on the table.
"These pills have be confirmed to be safe for consumption, right?" His assistant is jarred by the sudden change of topic, but quickly responds.
"To the best of our knowledge, yes."
"So, all that is left is to test effectiveness. Is that correct?"
"That is correct, Sir."
"That girl's ability would be perfect to test out how effective these are. When she is caught, submit a criminal test subject request for her. Offer a one to three ratio." His assistant doesn't know if he's being generous or cruel. A criminal test subject request, if it's accepted, means that the person will get time off their sentence in exchange for forgoing their rights during the duration of the testing period. In this case, it's three days off for every one day spent being their lab rat. The boss must really want her. If course, with what those pills are supposed to do, he would want to be picky about who he gets to help test them and it's not like there are a lot of volunteers.
Their research could help so many people, level playing fields, but they can't do much without enough test subjects. It's hard the research a variety of powers without a equally numerous group of power users. Not many are going to willingly reveal themselves to let scientists run tests. That is just how the world works, and his boss, Satoshi Holmes, has accepted it.
