Turning Pro.
That had always been the plan.
I was eleven years old when I first discovered D.I.E.
Wes and his boys were head hunting me again for reasons I could not fathom.
I ran into a games store, ducking behind a shelf.
That’s when I saw it: a giant poster celebrating the current D.I.E. World Champions.
I remember staring at it for a long time, trying to work out what was different about these people in the poster and myself.
Then I figured it out…
Those people had a purpose.
They had a place in this world.
And they looked happy.
I pulled a pack of D.I.E. cards off the shelf and examined its shiny embossed case.
It wasn’t as if I was doing this for fun. Happiness felt as elusive to me as colour was to the blind.
But if I made it my goal to become the best at the world at this…
It might just give me a reason to carry on.
