I woke up to a foggy day, just like in the old town I used to live in. "Honey your gonna be late! Come on! First-day chop chop chop! Let's go!" She yelled up the stairs. I groaned and got out of bed getting dressed in the clothes I picked out the previous night before I fell asleep. I would take a shower, but I did take one last night..so I guess I'm fine. "Phoenix!" My mother yelled up the stairs. "Coming!" I put an oatmeal cookie in my mouth and rain downstairs, then out the door slamming it shut before my mother said goodbye.
I kept running, but then I realized that I'm a dumbass. I sighed. I don't know where the school is.
I saw a girl across from me at the other house, so maybe she knows. "Hey! Do you know where Orchid High is?" I questioned not realizing I still had the cookie in my mouth I ran out the door with and she ran over to me. "Okay first you have a cookie in your mouth like some anime girl being late for school, second the school is across the street. It's really confusing for first timers here for some reason, but hey." She said. Oh, shi-I took the cookie out of my mouth. "Anyways I got to run to set up for computer club, so I'll show you where the school is." We ran towards the school which surprisingly wasn't that far as we already we're seeing the view of the place from the gate.
"Anyways It was nice meeting you, but I gotta go set up club and stuff. See you around redhead!" She ran off and I sighed. Great...I now have to find where to go inside the large building by myself. I walked up to the school and bumped into someone. "I-I'm so sorry! I didn't see you there!" I panicked and the person started laughing. "It's fine really, anyways did you like the cookies?" How did he know I had cookies? "I gave them to you at the cafe? I'm Jayden, your mother order blackberry toast, your shirt had the Dragonknight logo on it" Oh..so that's why he sounded so creepy just now. "The cookies were really good. I even had one for breakfast since I got up late" I said. "Well I'm glad you enjoyed them, anyways you want to go to the computer lab before classes start," he asked. "Sure, but isn't that being used for a club. I had a girl run me to school that kept rambling about it.." I said in concern. "It's alright. It's mostly just a hangout and sometimes we run the school website depending on what they need or if they can't figure out something because they grew up in an age of flip phones" Jayden and I started walking to what I assume is the computer room. "So? when did you move here?" He tried to make conversation. "I moved here yesterday, but it's my first day at this school." He held the door open for me and I walked in with him walking ahead of me. "The computer lab is right there, so not too far." He opened the computer lab door and we both got in closing the door behind us.
"Guys this is...uh." I could see their faces trying not to laugh. "The name is Phoenix." I introduced myself. "I'm Ashley, the girl who got you here in the first place, and that's Zeke. There would be more members if they all didn't graduate, but at least a club can only be terminated when the club leader messed up so bad, moves schools, or graduates," said Ashley. "Well, it's nice to meet you all," I said. "You too," Ashley replied and I'm guessing the one with green hair is named Zeke. "He's a bit shy." Oh..so that's what up with him. "I can talk damn it." Woah...broccoli head snapped. "Alright, I just thought the turtle was hiding in his shell again." Jayden teased him as he messed up his hair. "HEY! Get the hell off me!" Zeke raised his voice and Jayden chuckled. "See you guys around, gotta get to English. I don't have time to be a third wheel" Ashley walked out and went to her class, but the bell hasn't rung yet.
"Oh, that's right the bell doesn't work as they're still repairing. I'll see you at lunch, oh and by the way Phoenix maybe I could walk you to your classes today, it's the least I can do since your new and all" offered Jayden. "Sure I don't mind at all, that's very nice of you to do," I said. "What class do you have first by the way?" Oh, that's right I didn't grab my schedule yet. "I still have to grab my schedule so you can wait for me by the stairs okay?" I walked off and made it towards the front desk to get my schedule for the school year.
{Fun fact: the title “Virtual or Reality?” is a question whether the characters within the story prefer one or the other}
