Suddenly he grabbed her from behind pulling one arm over his shoulder and wrapping his arms tightly around her waist "well first how about we take the fun way down." He lifted her up into the air and took her over the roof edge.
"Oh my god! Oh my god!!!" she clung desperately to Rain wrapping her legs around his. "He smiled smugly,
"Ready for a flip?" she looked up at his face eyes wide. He began to twist through the air flipping once and twirling back and forth. Slowly they descended to the ground. Although she was terrified she couldn't help but look around at the city, it was truly an amazingly terrifying feeling to fly.
He gently set her down in the alley. She held onto him a moment longer making sure she was on solid ground. He kept one arm gently on her back to steady her. Ahnali finally released her grip and stepped away, slightly looking up at him. "That was both terrifying and amazing." His grin stretched across his face,
"Next time I'll take you up." she laughed nervously,
"Ok, but maybe with a parachute." He smiled tenderly at her.
"I would never let you fall, promise." She was about to reply but her phone went off. The only thing written on the text was 'here'. Her smile vanished.
"Ugh, my dad is here...I guess I have to go...Will I meet you again?" He opened his mouth to reply but stopped and looked to the sky. He glanced back down at her with a panicked expression "I-I have to go! I promise we'll meet again...just wait for me ok?!" Ahnali nodded, concerned about the frantic and sudden change in his behavior.
Within seconds he had vanished into the night sky. The rain began to fall normally again. She sighed and walked to the front oh the building. The car was sitting in the driveway. She walked up and knocked on the back window. The door unlocked just before she grabbed the handle. She swung it open and reluctantly slid in. Her father sat across from her, legs crossed and resting his chin on his left hand. "What were you doing? Your mother is not happy. Do you ever stop to think how your actions affect others?" Ahnali twisted her fingers together in her lap.
"I'm sorry dad, I just needed some time to think." He raised an eyebrow,
"To think...think of more excuses? Think of how to continue with your childish fantasies? Or did you actually come to realize that I'm right?" She bit her lip and looked out the window. "Ahnali, I'm tired of having this same conversation with you. You have until Monday to give me your answer, will you go to business school or stay home and work with your mother?" She looked over at him with a blank face.
"Work with mother, how?"
"To find a husband, a well bred, serious, and competent man to take over the company." She stared at him, not believing what he was saying "Those are your only options, business school or marriage, this is not up for negotiation."
"Dad that's not fair! I've done everything you've asked of me, but just this once I want to do something for me, please don't make me choose, please!"
"Ahnali STOP! You're acting like a spoiled brat. If you don't decide by Monday I'll choose for you. End of discussion." The car came to a stop at a light. She looked at her father then swung the door open and jumped out, slamming the door behind her. He rolled down the window, "Ahnali! Come back!" the car slowly followed her down the street "If you don't get in this car now you'll walk home, I won't allow them to come back and pick you up." Angrily she took out her phone and tossed it into the car.
"I won't call for help, and this way you won't be able to track me again! If I'm not home by morning just assume me dead!...It's not like you'd care anyway." She turned and ran down the street.
"Follow her."
"I'm sorry sir, this is a one way. I'll turn down the next street and track back." the car went slowly up and down the different streets. They looked for her for over an hour without any luck. Finally her father instructed the driver to return home.
