She furrowed her brow and pursed her lips "So you are the rain, every single drop is part of you?" He chuckled, she almost thought she could make out a smirk on his face.
"No, I am not every drop of rain, I simply tell the water what to do, for example right now, the rain is fairly heavy. I did that so you could see my silhouette better. I can also make it stop raining or just mist or drizzle. When I'm alone I get to choose how the rain falls...but if anyone else is with me I have to do what they tell me to do." he sounded a bit upset when he spoke about the others.
"Ok, last question. Are you the same person I met when I was a child?" this time she thought she could see him blush.
"Yeah, that was me, to be honest you were the first human that ever noticed me, the first to ever speak to me. It was fascinating...I wanted to meet you again but Storm found out and he kept me away. He never left me alone in this city. If it wasn't Storm babysitting me it was Wind. To be honest I hated every second of it. For so long I could not choose how the rain fell. I couldn't be me," Ahnali looked at him sadly, she knew all too well what he was talking about. "This is the first time in a long time that I've been able to just let it rain." his smile seemed relieved and relaxed, his eyes focusing on Ahnali. He was unaware that she was slowly being able to see his features. "Anyway! Why were you going to jump?"
She sat upright indignant. "I was not going to jump, I would never do that!" I was just looking at the city. I know I was upset...my dad is a lot like Storm, he won't let me do what I want and always tells me what to do...no exceptions, but I would never jump, that wouldn't solve anything." They both looked down pressured by the weight of others expectations.
Ahnali looked back up first, a gentle smile upon her lips. "Ok Rain, show me something cool with the water." A smile shot across if face. He set himself on the roof. "Ok, but I need you to come over here." he extended his hand out to her. She stood up and took a step out from under the covering. To her surprise not a single raindrop touched her. She walked slowly towards him turning in circles looking at the rain as it continued to fall around her. She stretched out her arm and took his hand. It was the first time she had firmly touched him. Both blushed looking at their joined hands. He quickly pulled his hand away throwing it down to his side, suddenly the rain came crashing down.
"Oh no! I'm sorry, wait just a sec." he waved his hands and the rain stopped falling on the roof. She laughed joyously.
"Wasn't expecting that" she chuckled "You're just lucky my makeup is mostly waterproof." He laughed pointing at her face,
"Waterproof? You look like a goth metal rocker!"
"What?!" She ran over to her clutch and pulled out a mirror "Oh my gosh! I am never buying this brand again!" she took out one of the wipes and cleaned her face. He walked up behind her waiting patiently, letting the rain fall again. "Sorry, I just don't want to look crazy." he shrugged.
"I don't mind, I've got time." She finished cleaning up and turned back to him. He looked her over then smirked "besides, you look better like this."
Just then she saw the light on her phone start flashing. She had 10 messages and now her mother was calling. "Hello," her mom began talking instantly.
"Darling, I've been worried about you! We got home and you're not here, your father is heading back to get you now, tell me where you are, are you safe?" Ahnali sighed,
"Mom I'm fine, I'll come home on my own tell dad to just stay there."
"Not a chance, where are you...never mind I know where you are, wait there for your father." Ahnali tried to interject but her mother had already hung up. She stood there looking at the ground.
"Are you ok Ahnali?" She looked up.
"Yeah, just my dad again. I really don't want to see him right now but of course it doesn't matter what I want, he's coming to get me and I have to quietly abide. I'll get in the car and he'll instantly begin to lecture me on responsibility, growing up, and changing my future path......Wait, how do you know my name?"
"Don't you remember, your mom called you by name the first time we met. I never forgot your name." Ahnali smiled at him.
"Well now I will never forget yours. Unfortunately I need to go down stairs and defy my father."
He grinned "Want some help?" She cocked her eyebrow,
"What did you have in mind?"
