Caleb POV
I jumped awake because of a high-pitched scream. I looked around confused. Avi, who was sleeping next to me, was now awake too. He looked as lost as I was. Then, I saw my stalker looking appalled.
"H-how can you!" she started to cry, and Avi looked at her with a confused expression. "How can you cheat on your mate!"
"Mate?" I heard Avi mumble in shock.
I sighed in frustration, "How many time do I have to tell you? I am not your mate!" I glared at her then softly looked at Avi. "On the other hand, Avi IS my MATE."
She glared at him with pure hatred. "You little twink! You think you can steal him away from me?!" she shouted and was ready to slap my mate.
Enraged, I shifted and jumped on her making her fall on her back with me on top of her. Baring my teeth at her, I snarled twice making her whimper and look away. Shifting back to my human form, I glared at her.
"Don't you even dare to hit my mate. If I see you touch or even look at him. I'll drag you to the Alpha. You were already warned once, and you know there's no second chance." I said coldly.
"Y-your parents will hear about having that lowly being as a mate! Don't you see? He's not like us, like me. I'm way better than him," she tried to touch me, but I walked away.
"Avi, please get dressed. Unfortunately, we have some things to take care of before our date," I smiled as I helped him put his shirt and pants on.
After I got dressed too, I put my arm around my mate shoulder as we walked downstairs. Avi would sometimes look behind us worriedly.
"Are you hungry?" I asked him and he shook his head. "We will eat later then, we will first go meet the Alpha."
We got out of my house and walked to the pack house with her following us and shouting my name. Because of that, people looked at us and that made my mate feel uncomfortable. I looked behind me and glared at her, but she didn't seem to understand. I mumbled shut up and she immediately did.
As we approached the pack house, people started to greet me and I nodded in response. I could hear whispers and honestly, if I was in a better mood, I would have ignored them. But now, they do annoy me because it was making my mate uncomfortable! I gritted my teeth and held my mate tighter.
"Who's the little one with our Beta?"
"Is he the Beta's mate?"
"I'm so jealous!"
"They are so cute together!!"
"Who's the girl behind them? How can she call our Beta that way?"
I looked down and saw my mate all flustered, so I walked faster to get away from all the whispers and get some intimacy. Once in the pack house, I only stopped once I was in front of the Alpha's office. I knocked and waited for him to tell us to come in. I opened the door and went inside first with Avi. She followed close behind still trying to gain my attention.
"Caleb! I heard you found a mate!" he smiled as he sat up to give me a hug.
"Yes, I found my mate. His name is Avi. Avi this is our Alpha, Aiden. Aiden this is my mate, Avi," I introduced them.
"It's nice to finally meet you. I feared he would end up living alone all his life," said the Alpha as he shook Avi's hand. Then he noticed that there was a fourth person in the room, and he sighed. "Again?"
"Yeah, she won't listen to me and now that I found my mate I don't want her around anymore. She... She's a threat to him... To us."
"Julia, come here," ordered the Alpha as he sat down behind his desk and she walked forward. "Listen, you can't stalk Caleb anymore. He's not your mate even if he has the same name as him. I know it's hard to accept, but... Julia, your mate is deceased."
"Alpha, Caleb is my mate! He came back for me. He... He just doesn't remember me and then, h-he came! He came between Caleb and me!" she tried to explain calmly.
"No, this Caleb is not your mate. This Caleb is my Beta and Avi's mate, not yours. Accept it, Julia. Accept that your mate died under a rogue attack months ago."
"B-but Alpha..." she pleaded then turned to me. "Caleb, please remember. Tell me you remember me! I'm your mate! Not him, me!" she pointed at Avi with so much hate in her eyes that I walked forward to hide my mate behind me.
"That's enough, Julia. Go pack your stuff. In a few hours, I'll come get you," ordered the Alpha.
"B-but-"
"I said to go pack your stuff," Aiden sat up and it was obvious he didn't like her defiance.
"Y-yes Alpha," she hung her head low and walked out of the room.
I heard the Alpha sigh, and he sat back down. "I'll take her to the hospital. They can help her there... The loss of her mate is too much for her to handle alone."
"Let's hope she will get better," I nodded.
"We will talk furthermore about the arrangements of your mating since it is clear that he's not a wolf," Aiden paused before adding, "A deer is it?"
"Y-yes," my mate answered still clinging at the base of my shirt.
Aiden sighed again, "It will be hard to convince his herd... You two can go now, I'll call you when it's time."
"Alpha," I greeted and he nodded back.
We walked out of his office and Avi's grip loosened a little. Being around an Alpha could be intimidating. It must have been hard for him, fighting his instincts to not run and hide.
"Let's go eat. I know an amazing place. " I smiled and kissed on his forehead.
