Caleb POV
I huffed and stormed out of my house. I continued to walk away rapidly as she followed me from behind.
At times like this, I wished I was born deaf.
"Listen to me! You can't ignore me for the rest of your life!" she screamed and reached out for me, but I snarled at her making her flinch and step back.
Sadly, she recovered from her shock and glared at me. I turned my back to her again, before walking away as fast as possible.
I showed her a smile and a little of attention and she got ideas all over her head. Unbelievable! I couldn't even believe how my parents tolerated her whining and pointless rambling. She didn't stop talking about being my mate knowing full well she wasn't. She was even stalking me, sending me love letters, trying to seduce me...
"Caleb, please listen to me..." she pleaded, but I still ignored her. How many times would I have to tell her that no, I would not mate with her? "CALEB!" she screeched making me cringe before changing into my wolf form and ran away not able to hear her annoying voice again.
I ran as fast as I could into the forest not really caring where I was going. My main goal, for now, was getting as far away from that girl and her endless talking and flirting.
When I was sure she wasn't following me anymore, I slowly changed my pace to a slow throttle before stopping completely looking around me. Fortunately, I was still inside our pack territory. Slowly starting to walk again and finally having some silence, I sniffed the air.
It was a good day to hunt. The air was still heavy with humidity and some other mouthwatering smell. It just stopped raining this morning, so the deers should come out and eat some fresh grass any time soon.
Then my stomach loudly rumbled making me groan. I skipped breakfast thanks to my stalker and now I was famished.
Walking through the wood, I reached the lake. Sitting down, I leaned down before taking a few laps of water.
Suddenly, I heard something move, so I stopped moving while listening closely.
I slowly walked toward the sound, careful to not make a sound. As I slowly approached, a smell hit me. I nearly purred, it smelled so good, so sweet. Finally, I could see a deer. He was eating without a care in the world.
It was just my luck, even if it wasn't very big, it would be enough for me. But, at the same time, I didn't want to eat him... I wonder why?
I crouched down and walked closer and closer. When I accidentally walked on a small branch, his head snapped up, and his nose started to twitch. I could see his muscles tensing already ready to run away. As I was going to pounce, I heard something that made my hunger disappear and groaned in frustration.
"CALEB!" she again shouted making the deer immediately ran away and so his sweet smell.
Before I could chase after it, she rapidly grabbed my neck. No matter how much I tried to shake her off, she held tight. I bared my teeth at her making it clear that I didn't want her touching me, but again, she ignored me. So, I changed back into my human form. She was now hanging in the air with her arms tightly around my neck while giggling with a huge smile.
"Get off of me," I ordered coldly while trying to untie her hands around my neck.
"But, you'll go again..." she whined with a pout.
"Get. Off. Of. Me," I ordered once again, but with more force.
"But-" she started, but I was so annoyed that I just pushed her off without a care.
She fell on her behind and started to sob. I ignored her and walked away, hoping the deer didn't go too far away.
"A-aren't you going to help me up?" she still sobbed while sitting on the ground.
"Don't follow me," I didn't spare her a glance and changed back before sniffing the air hoping that the sweet smell was still lingering in the air.
"W-why are you so cold to me? I'm your mate!" she complained making me aggressively snarled at her. She immediately clasped her mouth shut.
I walked away sniffing the air and ground searching for that delicious odour. Hopefully, the deer seemed relatively close. I ran toward the smell and this time. I found him drinking at the lake. He surely didn't fear to be hunted. Any other deer would have still been running away to get as far as possible.
Now that I could watch him with more details, he wasn't only small, he looked frail, but he was so graceful. It looked like he was dancing as he walked. I sat down never leaving him out of my sight. I had to have him. He was MINE.
