“It's a tempting offer, and you obviously know beautiful craftsmanship when you see it, but you aren't really my type.” The guy smirked, amusement sparkling in his eyes.
He wasn't what I expected at all. My eyes bounced back and forth between the two brothers. They were both mountain sized, with broad shoulders and muscled bodies, they both had a chiseled face that would make models weep, and that was where the similarities stopped.
Hades had that whole tanned skin because I'm outdoors all the time thing going on. His brother was so pale he could hide in snow. And I wasn't just talking about his skin! Hades's hair was black and messy in a medium grown over his ears, bed head, sort of way. His twin's hair was perfectly groomed and passed his shoulders... and white. Pure stark unadulterated white. Hades had beautiful violet eyes that made me want to stare into them for days. His brother's eyes were such a pale version of violet, that they appeared pink.
“I thought you were identical.” I blurted out, much to my utter shame. Yes, I have no filter sometimes. It's a curse.
The brother dialed his smirk up a few degrees, making him look almost wicked. “I had a magical accident when I was five. We were playing hide and seek and I tried to make myself invisible.” He waved his hand in a circle in front of his face, his fingers stretched wide. “This happened. I should feel lucky that I didn't actually make myself disappear. I just ganked most of the pigment from my body.” He wrapped his arm around Hades's shoulder. “This guy, never forgave me because we couldn't trick anyone and switch places anymore. I swear it's where his sour disposition comes from.”
I couldn't help but laugh, Hades had been right, his brother would fit in perfectly with our family.
Hades rolled his eyes and sighed, “Athena, meet my brother, Eros. Eros, this diminutive person, is Athena, one of the twins I told you about on the phone.”
“Fluck you, applewipe.” I growled at Mr. Wizard's comment over my size. It really didn't have the same oomph, much to my dissatisfaction.
Eros's laughter bubbled up. “I knew you weren't telling the truth when you called. She's spectacular! I'm half tempted to make an exception and steal her from you.”
“I will end you bro. I couldn't deal with her brother for two seconds without wanting to break something.” Hades muttered. “I'll take crazy and dramatic over erratic and overly excited all day long.”
Before I could react to his obvious disparaging of mine and Chill's personalities, my brother burst out of the front door and flew down the stairs. Erm, I don't mean he actually flew, I have no clue if that's even possible, but he ran towards us, his hands flailing in his excitement.
“Athena! Dragons! Dragons are real! They're real sis! As real as you and me!” He called out to me as he ran. When he got to me, he snatched me up and spun me around, then dropped me to my feet, grabbed my hands and danced me in circles.
He abruptly stopped, and with my momentum I ended up crashing into his side. He'd let go of my hands and I started to fall. Hades swooped in and caught me around the waist, and as per his norm, he held me from behind, my feet dangling in the air.
“Holy shit! Legolas is standing on our front lawn.” Chill said, his teal eyes wide as he stared at Eros.
