"Fool," Gon called in a low whisper so only the demon could hear, and indicating for him to lean closer. "Do not let these scalez get you down. Yal'r going fine. Just slow down abit or'l else Mistress will...well I supporse its no matter. Shes been staring since weve begun." With his eyes and the subtlety nod of the goblin's head Murni's eyes followed towards the head of the table. Madam Death has indeed been staring at him, not even bothering to hide how very open she was about it. The fact that it was very obvious caused the demon to blush in embarrassment for his lack of awareness. Wearing a small smirk turned smile Moat Nonna gave him a small wave. Face now dusted pink; he turned back to the smug goblin- who rested his face on one palm now trying to change the subject.
"So...um...why are on edge? We're just eating no need to be so tense, it's not like we are going to be attacked right. Wait are we, is this another lesson about never relaxing even ion death!?"
"Hush you fool!" Gon hissed eyes darting on the rest of the table occupants. Letting out a shaky short of breath that lacked real humor he continued in a hushed voice, "No rather these scalez try stealin me food or messin with me." He glared the last part at Orange who tried to listen into their conversation.
"Oh is that all? I worried that I would have to fight, and most likely lose, to gain some sort of prize at the end." Murni now calmed down continued to eat at a slower rate enjoying his food obvious to the uncertain look on Gon's look.
"Of course, noting to worry 'bout." Gon looked away in guilt eating little of his own plate waiting for the inevitable that is about to occur.
.....................................................................................................................................................
Madam Death was enjoying the show of Murni's dancing soul among how the others reacted in kind. She saw Sheimi from her side eating in peace, but one look at her soul had her chuckling. She knew that she had a certain relation in the past, but then again everyone in the Underworld knew she was head over heels in love. Of course, naturally after that incident Madam Death forbid her to love another. Love leads to complications, and Madam Death would not allow this time to fail just because of one spirit's silly love. However, of course, this demon is different than the last time, but one can never be too cautious.
Focusing back towards the end table, she met with Murni's eyes and gave a small wave. Despite not being able to hear their conversation she watched their souls gave an indication of what they are talking about. Murni gave it all too easily with his soul being an open-book, but Gon, on the other hand, gave her a challenge. Ever since he learned how to keep his soul steady, he became a sneaky fellow. If it hadn't been for their deal that they made decades ago, she would have tossed him into an endless loop of suffering just for being disobedient. Moat Nonna continued to watch the various emotions that flashed across both the demon's face and soul letting a small laugh into her raised the glass. Turning to Sheimi, she decided that it would be best to distract the poor girl's mind before she tires herself out. The spirit, for the most part, was grateful for the distraction; even if it didn't show it on her face, at least her soul was honest. With the flick of her wrist, Madam Death allowed her magic to activate on the goblin. Subtlety watching as the goblin straighten his stature, while still holding a conversation with Sheimi she knew he had gotten the message.
Noticing the steady quietness of the table, Moat Nonna called forth a wisp to fetch a new bowl of special stew for the demon. With another wave of her hand, she called forth the rest to clear the table, cleaning any unnecessary messes in the process.
Ahem "May I call forth your attention, now that you all had your fill? As most of you are aware of the true reason we are here, it is now time to begin once Mr. Bortis had finished." Just then a wisp enters carrying a bowl and placed it in front of the demon.
"Ms. Death, not to be rude but why are you having me drink this again" This caused confusion to spread across the table. The point of the special stew, or Lapidem Flebitis, is in the name; petrify and lament. It causes the one to consume it be unable to move while reliving their worst moments, and all it took to activate it was a little of Madam Death's power. They all had gone through it, so they know that only one bowl is needed. To have two bowls can tear a spirit apart. To make it worse, while they are unable to move Madam Death takes this time to carve into their chest. A few of the Hydras move to rub at the spot on their chest in remembrance feeling the phantom pain from so eons ago.
"You will see soon enough, now finish the bowl Mr. Bortis we haven't all day." Glancing at everyone's unease faces, he nodded and commenced to swallow the bowl. Gon looked like he wanted to say something, but Madam Death surged her power to keep from doing so. Even the White Hydra seemed to be unnerved by this, but it didn't stop him from watching closely. Once Murni finished, Moat Nonna made her way towards and infusing her power into the table's occupants to keep them sitting, silent, and watching the spectacle that is about to begin.
"How was it, I hope it didn't disagree with you?" Her voice soft and gentle, as if speaking to a small child, which compared to her Murni might as well be. Holding his face in one hand and brushing his hair with another, she leans in to whisper an apology. BeforeMurni could even ask, immense pain riveted throughout his body from his mind flooding from memories. With his body slacked against the chair, his face frozen in silent pain, eyes wide and hazed over with panic, Madam Death withdrew a jade/onyx mix blade from her sleeves. She used the blunt end to tear-off the buttons and propped him up firmly against the chair's back before plunging the blade into his chest. Allowing the blade to rest only for a moment, before twisting it inside the demon's chest; this continued until a fist-sized-gap appeared within his chest. Satisfied with her work, she withdrew the blade from his chest and placed it on the table not bothering to wipe the blood from her hands nor the blade. Kneeling next to the limp form, hand outstretched, and palm facing upside she began to whisper. Her dark oil slick like eyes glowed softly while she coasted the demon's soul out into her waiting palm. She cradled it briefly, before pinching a piece off and placing the rest back in place. With the small piece still within her palm, she pressed it forming a small oval. She blew softly onto it and solidify it into a gem small enough to rest in the center of her palm. With her palm still wet from blood Madam Death moved to face the back of the chair's back. Using two steady fingers caked in blood, she drew symbols while muttering an enchantment causing them to hum softly with light after each one was done. When the entire wood was soaked in blood symbols, Madam Death stood and backed away.
"Hydra, I need one of you to hold Mr. Bortis for a moment while the chair adjusts. Shemi bring me something to wipe this mess from my hands and make sure it's damp please. As for the rest of you, you may leave after you escort your white brethren back to his chambers." Orange Hydra being the closest to the demon went to pick up his limp form mindful of the gaping hole in his chest that still oozed blood out. The rest did as they were told leading their white counterpart away while Shemi went to get a damp cloth. Gon made to follow suit but he was stopped by a gray hand on his shoulder.
"Now where are you going? I need you to retrieve the medical kit and the elixir."
"Of course mistress." The goblin scurried off to fetch the requested items. With only the two beings, not including the unconscious form of Murni, they watched in eerie silence as the chair moaned as it shifted. The moaning grew loader shifting in tones before reflecting the screams of the demon until it suddenly stopped. What was left behind was a simple wooden chair thick and firm, with the back decorated in partly his life story.
"Mistress if I may ask two questions of you?"
"You may, Hydra."
"Why did you decide to serve him two of the Lapidem Flebitis? One would have been enough to paralyze his entire body and completely open to your...erm...soul bound reveal chair."
"It was merely an experiment. See the first bowl keeps you all very much aware of what is happening to you. Two bowls, if I am correct, will make you blind and temporary delude a soul into reliving their worst moments. The reason why is simple, what works better: fear or love?" Unlike the rest of her servants, Madam Death has planned to make him completely loyal to her without instinct fear into him. Her plan is for him to love her as one would their own mother, someone who would do anything for their mother. Even kill loved ones if needed as long as they can have praise and love. For someone like Murni, who is starved of love and affection any sort of kindness can win him over. However, for such a plan to work, she needs him to remember who had hurt him and no recollection that she ever had did anything remotely similar.
"Now what is your second, question?"
"I had already asked two, asking another would be rude, don't you think mistress?"
"Still cheeky as ever I see, very well I'll permit you to ask one more."
"Why would you choose him, out of everyone in all the universes after the last time he had hurt you? He had brought you to your knees, he made that spirit fall and obey him, he wanted to kill you, and still, you refuse to extinguish him. You keep here-"
"Be careful of your words, Hydrangea. Remember who I am and what I can do to your family ten times over the different dimensions." Her cold steel tone cut through Hydra's increasing loud outburst. Her facial features remained cool and unwavering, despite the growing shadows that crept the walls that betrayed her true emotions. Staring the reptilian down for only a beat more, she approached the two slowly. Adoration seeped into her features as she cradled Murni's head between her two hands-fingertips still fresh with his blood-whilst he remained being held within Hydra's grasp.
"I have tried and failed once, this time will be different. I had already asked Time & Fate once and they said that he shall be my most powerful. I'll be like Father, like Uncle, and like everyone else who has a champion."
"Mistress is that not why we are here? I have sworn to protect you and the entirety that you have ever stood for, why must you need him. He would only hurt you again, and this time you won't be able to stop him. You've grown weak since the last battle and still have yet to recover."
"Aw, you worry how sweet. But tell me this, does any part of you regret agreeing to me? To be a servant when you were once one of the most feared beings of your world? That given the chance to be free and leave, that you would stay and continue to protect me?" Moat Nonna remained looking at the unconscious demon as she merely asked above a whisper to the nonresponsive reptile. "That's what I thought." She pressed a light kiss upon Murni's brow to cover her seeping sadness. Stepping back, she left trails of drying blood on either side of Murni's face. Reaching up she flicked Hydra upon his nose lightly before saying, "Besides, I am only going to answer one question. Your answer will come at a later time."
"If you say so mistress, but if I may ask where Lady Shemi is?"
"Who knows? At the moment, it would be unwise to keep her anywhere near him for the time being. So the longer she is away, can only lead to being a good thing." Moat Nona replied uninterested on the spirit's whereabouts' as she scraped the drying blood off her nails.
