After that Dad woke up and drove Jamie and Kamila home, Mom went to the garden talking about something with Ellie, which left me with Xander.
We stayed by the front door of the shop sitting at one of the outside seating.
I leaned back looking up at the sky full of stars then over to Xander. He seemed in his element, white hair a glow, normally brown eyes awash in a ruby red.
Huh, I wonder if he had control over changing his eye color or did they just change with no warning? Were there any other things he could do? Were all Vampires like this- like him?
He turned to me a smirk curling his lips.
“Lumir? Are you listening?”
I blinked coming out of my thoughts. “I uh- no. Sorry.”
Now his smirk was a full on grin showing off his fangs, highlighting his eyes even more.
“So how do you feel? Now that you know?” He repeated.
“Oh,” I flexed my hands feeling the throb of pain with a frown. I needed to remember to clean these out. “I guess... I'm a little shocked. This definitely isn't how I planned for my Monday to go. I mean my bully turned into a Minotaur. My Mom is some kind of plant-water being, my Dad is a Hunter and all my friends have their own secrets.” I laughed. “It kind of makes coming out seem small, though I know that wasn't the point. Now I'm gay and a Natural.”
I took off my glasses wiping them on my sleeve sighing at glare in the lens. “I guess the truth is that I don't know the first thing about this or myself and I thought it would make sense when I accepted that part of me but now I learn this and it's all a little confusing. Are there even gay Supernatural?”
His bark of laughter had my face heating with embarrassment. But before I could react he was standing in front of me and I mean right in front of me.
I gasped almost falling from the chair but Xander grabbed it before it could fall.
His blurry face sharpened into focus, gold flecks popped in his brownish red eyes, his lips parted before breaking into a grin.
“X-Xander? W-what are you doing?” My heart beat wildly. Oh god could he hear it?
“I'm making sure you hear me when I say this.” He leaned closer, our noses almost touching. “Yes there are other gay Supernatural, there are some creatures without a gender, those that can even change genders, others with both. So hear me when I say,” His hand came up cupping my cheek freezing me in place. “There's nothing wrong, weird or disgusting about you. You are the most unique, energetic and the funniest person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. And I know you'll make a great Supernatural.” Then he leaned in the rest of the way, brushing my bangs back then he pressed his lips to my forehead. “So don't worry.”
I think I stopped breathing.
Blinking I stared up at him, Xander gazed back with an equally surprised look on his face before his own cheeks darkened noticeably.
He quickly backed up covering his mouth.
“I'm so sorry I just- I don't know what came over me.” He jumped almost a foot in the air- looking like a startled cat- as my Dad pulled into the driveway. His red gaze almost too piercing as he turned it on me. “I'm sorry but I-I need to get home.”
Stupidly all I could do was wave him off as he all but dove into his car and drove off.
Dad walked over. “Is he alright? I've never seen a Vampire look like that.” He glanced at me. “Are you alright?” He looked back after Xander. “What happened between you two?”
A fiery blush rose to my cheeks. “N-nothing! Nothing's going on between us! I uh got homework- bye.” I put on my glasses then ran inside and straight to my room, shutting the door behind me.
I stood there a moment letting my body sag against it.
Shakily I brushed my bangs aside, still feeling his lips against my forehead.
Why did he do that? Why would he try and console me? Kiss me? My head pounded. This whole day was just too much.
I made my way to my bed as the door cracked open.
“Lumir?” Ellie asked coming in. “Dad said you and Xander were acting weird. You okay? Is this about what we found out?”
“Surprisingly no.” I mumbled into my pillow then rolled over to face her. And regretted it when my room spun.
“Why is your face so red?” She gasped going from zero to hundred. “What did he do? I swear I don't care if he's a Vampire or a Dragon, nobody messes with you-”
“Ellie. That's not what happened.”
She flopped into my bed, staring at my glow in the dark star covered ceiling, then she took my hands in hers tracing the bandages.
“Then what? Did he kiss you or something?” She joked but when I hid my face back in my pillow she shrieked jumping on top of me.
“Oh my god! He did?”
“It was only my forehead-”
“It doesn't matter! How was it? Was he a good kisser? Was he gentle, passionate, fiery?” She squealed hugging me tight. “Oh sweet cookies and cream, my baby brother has an admirer- no, no a crush!”
“Get off me you weirdo.” I mumbled trying to hide my face again. “Why are you so happy?”
“Why? Because he's a nice guy.” She blinked a few times then laughed long and hard. “Wait you-?”
“Shut up I forgot okay…”
“Look Lumir I do like both and Xander's a great guy but totally not my type. But I can tell he's yours.”
Blushing I turned away.
She squealed again, making my ears ring. “Just wait till I tell Kamila, she's gonna flip!”
“Wait!” I shoved her off sitting up. “You can't tell Kamila she'll never leave either of us alone. And isn't it too early to have feelings for someone I just met?”
Ellie grinned. “Lumir that's the thing about love, it happens when you least expect it.”
My glasses slipped down my nose. “Y-you think I-I love him?” I squeaked flopping back on my bed.
“Don't you?”
“It's not that- I- he isn't… like that…”
She shifted to sit closer to me. “Lumir… don't sell yourself short, you're a fantastic guy. And you never know Xander might swing that way, I mean he did kiss you.”
My blush deepened. “But he could have… just been swept up in… yeah that has to be it.”
She ruffled my hair as she stood. “Just food for thought. You should go take a shower and relax, it's been some day.
She had no idea.
“Good night, bro.”
“... Night.”
I quickly showered, rinsing myself free of the dirt and blood then when I was done I disinfected my injuries and there were a lot.
Bruises decorated my body in odd splotches with cuts mixed in. Moving slowly I tended to all of them, then wrapped my palms again, even so they bled through rather quickly, I put another gauze over the bloodied one then wrapped them one more time, chucking the first aid kit back under my sink.
Satisfied I was clean, bandaged and in new PJ's, I crawled back into bed. Falling asleep with dreams of Xander, magic, secretly shared kisses and what tomorrow would bring.
My world just got so much bigger.
