Her folks! So I only had the one question (sad music in the background) but I'll answer it.
Penni said: "Firstly, I must comment on your bravery again <3 This is an amazing thing you're doing and I commend you for having the courage to do it. I am curious to know how much your characters are based on other people?"
So, first, thank you. I never saw it as brave, rather as necessary, for me and for others. Silence kills, and it shouldn't. That's why I'm writing this, with all my experiences, all my knowledge, all my tears and most of all, all my love. I don't want anyone else to die because of silence. Even if it means speaking on their behalf.
Second, a lot. M is almost 100% me, with some extra stuff that belong to people I've met throughout the years. But I really do have a raccoon plushie.
Pierre is a mix between my two best friends, with his silent understanding and his ability to lighten up a mood. Hiding his true feelings behind a mask, working hard for others, making sure everyone is fine... Yeah, that's both of them. Only one of them suffers from a mental health illness though, so Pierre is probably the most solid of the main trio.
Abby is my vision of Karen. Karen was an amazing, lively young woman who had gone through so many horrors that she barely could control her body and mind anymore. Karen fought against PTSD, depression, anxiety and (I believe) bipolar-ish disorders most of her young life. And a few months ago, at the age of 26, she lost the battle. Silence weakened her enough for her illnesses to prevail. Abby's hope is a tribute to her memory, her fight, and our friendship.
Along the way you'll meet other characters that are very much inspired from real people, and some that are more fiction than reality. I won't tell you who is what, unless they want me to. Because any of the characters in this story could be a real person. And all of them are, at least in a little part, me.
Thank you again for following our adventures, for supporting us and for everything you do. Together, we can reach more people.
Together, we can be heroes.
If we want to
