Style theft seems weird topic, most people are inspire by certain art or artist and will indeed have similar concept and art to it cause of this. There are of course certain styles or elements that one shouldn't copy as it would be to obvious giving is a specific characteristic of an artist. By this I mean the way someone might color that everyone just KNOW is 'X artist'. If is a broader style (like the current CalArts Style) use in various series and format is hard to call that style theft and more like a trend following in my opinion.
