Edward wasn't really enjoying his tuna sandwich by Uncle Ben's coffeehouse -which was just a few shop lots across the street from Misses Halloway's pasta diner. He felt remorseful that he couldn't get to savor that tasty and creamy pasta of her anymore – even just for the last time.
He curses silently as he sips on his black coffee - the taste was utterly indescribable - damn...who makes this shitty coffee anyway? - while he was studying the gruesome photographs of Misses Halloway at her crime scene - he noticed one thing in peculiar from one of her photographs...as he tries to scrutinized by pulling the photograph closer to his eyes, his cell phone suddenly rang and Edward jumped - knocking his table in the process and spilling some of the hot acrid coffee onto his bespoke pants.
'Damn!...Yah?' Edward asked annoyingly.
'What did you said?' a female voice responded angrily.
'Never mind...what is it?' answered Edward as he struggles to wipe the black stain off his squishy pants.
'There is another case, I think you better come down here and take a look at it yourself.'
'What?! - ok where is it?' Edward takes his notepad out and quickly scribbles the address on it.
'Be there in around 20 minutes.'
'Edward...be wholly prepared for what you will witness soon.'
'I will,' he answered confidently while he looks down at his pants in dismay.
He pockets back his cell into his trench coat and stared at the photograph - yet again he curses silently for his clumsiness and dropped a few bills on the table and hurries back to his black Charger.
45 minutes later he arrived at a small house by the junction near the fish market - he's always notoriously late. 'It's still early in the morning anyway', as he comfort himself yet already a large presence of deputies are already there, trying to cordon off a large crowd of curious and some furious onlookers. Edward walks past the deputies as by now they are already familiar with his scrawny face and lets him through even though Edward actually works in downtown LA instead.
As he took a stroll to the front yard, he noticed that the front doors were completely smashed down like the one that belonged to Misses Halloway too. As he enters the well decorated home - the next sight completely caught him by surprise - a woman in her twenties, young and beautiful with her long blonde hair got tied up on the ceiling hall fan.
She was half naked and looked beautiful in her age...but her lower abdomen was compressed - due to her half eaten intestines were emerging from her sexual organ. Her womb was completely gone and her lower extremities was torn wide open as if an unborn child just rips her genitals off from the inside. Her eyes were swollen again - revealing only her white irises - the carpet floor was a bloodied mess - with some half eaten flesh strewn about and blood splattered across the walls.
As soon as Edward saw that sight - he couldn't help himself but lunges backwards and vomits out the half digested tuna sandwich that he ate earlier onto the front porch. So much for that unlovely sandwich.
'Told you so - that you couldn't handle it,' said Natalia Egleens his ever loyal sidekick.
Edward took out his handkerchief and wipes his foul mouth, ' Yeah apparently you are right about that.'
'And nice pants too', Natalia giggles as she notices the black coffee stain.
'Yeah - nice me over will ya?'.
Natalia gave his superior the middle finger.
'Well it looks like we've got our second victim now - her name is Michelle Anderson.' said Simon and Jacobson who stood nearby.
'Is she pregnant as well?'
'Yes indeed she was, according to her husband.'
Edward edge closer to take a look, this time he seems to know what to look for. He quickly found the yellow discharge again smeared on both her legs. This time Edward tries to find another sign - he found it again - three distinctive numbers on her half eaten intestines - they appeared to be burnt into her flesh and they all read as 666.
'Saw that guys?'
Jacobson was the first to edge closer and snaps a photograph from his trusty DSLR camera followed by Simon and Natalia herself.
'That is rather odd won't you say guys?' Natalia suggested.
'You are telling me a demon tie her hair up on the ceiling fan and devour her up?' Simon said shockingly.
'I am not sure what this all means right now - but I found the same symbol on Misses Halloway as well - take a look at it yourself.' Edward took out the crime scene photos of Misses Halloway and show the same photograph to the deputies - they nodded in agreement that the both victims now share the same distinctive symbols on their half-eaten intestines.
'Will you get this sample analyzed as well?' Edward grabs a sample of the yellowish discharge with a cotton bud from right under his pocket.
'Sure thing detective, it will be analyzed right away along with Misses Halloway's sample.' said Simon obediently.
'May I talk to her husband?'
'Billie is already onto it,' said Jacobson.
As Edward walks towards the man sitting on the dining table with Sheriff Billie, Natalia tags along and sits right across him. He gave Sheriff Billie Emmelton a quick handshake and asked casually.
'May we join?'
'Lucky you...we were just about to get started.' said Billie.
The man who appears to be Michelle's husband looks dumbfounded and stricken with grief. It appears that tears have already flown down his cheek that didn't dried up.
'Mr. Anderson, could you tell us what happened over here?' Natalia ventures.
William Anderson didn't moved nor flinched another muscle - he just stared right up - blankly at the table.
Billie interrupts, 'Mr. Anderson, I hope you could cooperate with us if you want us to help you capture this culprit that murdered your w-'
'I just went out to grab a beer with my pals man...down at Lackey's Bar. And just when I was to reached home, I heard my wife screaming at the top of her lungs. I tried to smash the front doors down but it just won't bulged...it just won't open.'
'That's went you broke it down right?' Natalia suggested.
William nodded, 'I just couldn't understand why someone would do this to her...to my beloved wife...I love her man.'
'How long have you gone?' Billie asked.
'Just a couple of hours man...that's all.'
'Did you happen to have any arguments with your wife before you left?' Natalia asked.
'Hell no! I love my wife man and I have never lay a finger at her all these years. She's all I've got man.' Anderson begins to weep and sob uncontrollably again. 'Are you men accusing me now of doing this?'
'No one is accusing you of anything yet Mr. Anderson.' assured Billie.
‘But you better stay in town, less we need you again for the investigation.”
William nodded again and sobbed.
All the while Billie and Natalia were asking their questions, Edward just stood there silently and wrote his notes.
'How long were you away?' were you drunk? Questioned Natalia.
'NO I AM NOT DRUNK MAN, I was only gone for a few hours man - my wife allows it every Saturdays to hang up with my buddies.'
'Do you happened to have any enemies or did you owe people some money?'
'NO NO NO...the answer is no man...I lead my life as an ordinary fisherman, nothing fancy at all man. Why will I be owing people money because I don't need to - I always lived within my means man.'
'For the last time - I am not a man,' said Natalia annoyingly.
'Yes man... i mean ma'am,' sobbed William.
Finally Edward ventured, 'Did you noticed anything odd while you are trying to rescue you wife?'
William paused for a moment before he answered. 'I noticed there was this yellowish glow floating away behind my house - and that was the only moment I managed to break down my doors after trying many times...it felt strange...how come I can't break them down? they are just made of wood man.'
Billie eyed and listened to him intently. 'A yellowish glow floating away - you say?'
'Yah...it's rather strange, I thought I saw a UFO or the moon on my backyard, but it was so small like a football that it couldn't look like both of em.'
Edward wrote that last note down on his notepad, he appears reluctant whether to cross that one out from his notes. 'Nothing else out of the ordinary?'
'I heard a laughter though, it sounded like a woman's laughter'
'Really? You heard that too?' Billie was paying more attention now to William's remarks.
'You would think that I'm crazy...man.'
Natalia eyes at him intently.
'Or ma'am...but I am sure no crazy because I am telling you this right now...I SURE AIN'T CRAZY AND I KNOW WHAT I SAW.'
Billie got up and signaled Edward to follow him. Edward followed curiously.
'You are not going to believe this.'
'What? - Try me.' said Edward.
'Last night, at my backyard where my wife lies. I saw the same damn thing that William described. On top of that...', Billie tries to splutter out the words.
'What?' asked Edward impatiently.
'I...I...I heard a woman's voice too.'
'You've got to be kidding me Sheriff - are you on alcohol too?.'
'I am telling you - somehow I have to backed this man claim's because I witnessed the same damn thing too last night.'
'So you are telling me what? Mr. Halloween decided to come earlier now to haunt us when it's only February now?'
'I am just telling you what I saw and heard...I can't say anymore', Billie retreats away to join the other deputies.
Satisfied of questioning William Anderson - both Edward and Natalia walks out. As they approached the black Dodge Charger - an elderly man suddenly walks up to Edward.
'I know what you've seen inside.'
'And how's that?' Edward eyed the elderly man intently.
Natalia was about to draw her gun when Edward signals to her there's no need to.
'I have been following this...this evil thing for many years now and across many regions as well.'
'I am sorry...who you are?'
'Look for me when you are ready and I will tell you more.' The man handed his name card to Edward, it reads out loud in bold:
ADAM WELLINGTON,
Medium and Occult Affairs.
Before Edward can ask another question, the old man scurries away towards the crowds.
'Strange old man.' said Natalia.
'Strange indeed - this town is going to get a hell lot stranger if we don't find some answers soon enough.' Edward pockets the name card carelessly and got back into his black charger and drove off casually from the scene.
