"This will be your room," says Nikolas as he opens a door.
I walk in and the first thing I see is the chandelier hanging in my bedroom. If this room has something like that, I wonder what his looks like. Anyways, I walk further into the over-luxurious bedroom and notice that my suitcases are at the feet of the bed. At least, he has shown some respect for my privacy.
"There is a walk-in closet and a joined bathroom. If you need anything else, say it to the staff," he summarizes as he points the doors. "Do you have any questions?"
I sigh, "I am your fiancé when we are at official business party or meeting and so on, but when you don't need me, am I free to move as I please?"
"Like it is stated in the contract," he answers. There is an awkward silence before he adds "It's late, have a good night," he finishes before closing my bedroom door behind him.
Alone, I decide to explore a little bit. I have to admit that this room is actually quite beautiful. I even get the view on the pool! The wall in the back is all covered by mirrors which makes the incredibly big room even bigger. Do I really have to talk about the bathroom and the closet? Geez, this closet alone is half my apartment. No matter how hard I work, I will never be able to afford this.
Before going to sleep, I have to try that shower. Since I had seen it, I have to try it. After a hot soothing shower, I let myself fall on that super fluffy bed.

I am woken up by a wonderful smell, but at the same time, the coldness of the room makes my nose itch. Sneezing, I peak out of the bed covers. The curtains have been parted and the sun is burning my eyes, but the smell of fresh hot coffee makes up for everything. I look at my phone and sees that it is only eight in the morning. I wonder who has been into my room this early in the morning? I do remember Nikolas mentioning about people working for him. I'll thank the person when I see him or her. Still hiding under the covers, I make my way on the other side of the bed. Stretching my arm out, I successfully kidnap the cup of coffee.
Happily sipping it, I slowly feel myself coming back to life. It is hard enough to wake up especially during cold mornings like this one. Finally ready to leave my bed, I go through my morning ritual. Today is Sunday and I am ready to get on my shopping spree. I may even get some blood today, who knows? All clothed and ready to leave, I walk out of my bedroom only to be greeted by an unknown person.
"Good morning, Sir Micah," she greets with a polite smile.
"Good morning Miss?"
"My apologies, my name is Ania," she presents herself as we exchange a handshake. "It is a pleasure to finally meet you."
"The pleasure is mine. Are you the one that put the coffee in my room?" I point at the door behind me.
"Yes, perhaps you will like something else instead?"
"No, not at all, I just wanted to thank you. It saved you from seeing me half-dead," I joke as she laughs.
"In that case, you should see Sir Nikolas in the morning. The difference is astounding," she whispers as if she is scared that he will hear him. I try to picture the man with a bed hair or a grumpy look which I failed. Each time I imagine him, I see him in his immaculate suit and hairstyle with a salivating scent. "In this case, will you like a cup each morning?"
"If it's not too much trouble," I nod as she smiles.
"No, not at all! Where you about to leave?" she tilts her head as she notices that I am already properly dressed.
"Yes, if Nikolas needs anything from me, please tell him to call me."
"Of course, but will you like to eat breakfast before leaving? I can fix something for you in less than fifteen minutes."
"Thank you, but no. I already have plans, but please enjoy this fine morning with your own cup of coffee, not that you need it of course," I wink as I notice a faint blush creeping up her cheeks.
"H-have a good day," she finishes before walking away.
I watch her turn around the corner before I make my way down the stairs. I am about to get out, but then I remember that I don't know where my keys are. I look around and spot a table with what looks like a key bowl holder. There are a few keys inside, but I immediately spot mine. Smiling, I take it and make my way to my car after admiring the gorgeous pool in front of the front door. As soon as I turn the keys, my car comes to life. I drive to the gates, but again I have forgotten to ask about the codes. Living in someone else's house really sucks. Groaning, I open the window and push the intercom button.
"Sir Micah, I will open the gates for you," Ania says before the gates automatically open.
"Thank you, Ania, you are a lifesaver."
I make my way to the city as I make a mental list of the things I have to get done today. First, I need food then I will go shopping. Those two are primordial and if time lets me, I will have to test a few things out. One of them is about my attraction to men. I have to make sure, is it only Nikolas that I am attracted to or men in general? Yet again, I have never felt that pull when I looked some of my female clients business or life partners.
For once I am in the mood for something cheap, salty and greasy, so I order a slice of an all-dressed pizza with some fries and a bottle of iced tea. I really don't like carbonated drinks. Their sweetness doesn't bother me, what does is the gas that attacks me later on. I really hate it. Once, I drank a bottle of coca-cola and an hour later or so, I accidentally burped when I was meeting a client. Of course, I never saw her again. It is one of the most humiliating moments of my life. When I get my order, I start eating on one of the wooden benches outside of the pizza shop. Never will I eat in my car. Drinks are the only thing that I will allow and again, if something happens to spill on one of the leather chairs, you better pay for the cleanup and the repair.
Finished, I make my way to the same shopping mall from the other day. Even if I already know what I want to buy, I still take my time to walk around. If I am not looking at a piece of clothing or accessories, my eyes are on women. As for the men... They have nothing special. Some of them are okay-ish, but they are nothing compared to him. Why am I comparing them to him anyway? Either I am just really picky about the men I chose, or Nikolas is the only exception.
I shrug and walk into one of my favourite stores. I get the pieces of clothing that I have spotted the other day and some of the new arrivals before going to the fitting room. In the middle of trying a shirt, my phone starts to vibrate in my pants. I take it out from my back pocket and look at the caller ID.
"Eva," I greet as I answer the call.
"Hey, Micah, is that your apartment that you are renting?" she asks as I hear her typing on her keyboard.
"Yeah, it is."
"You are renting it and you are not asking for me? Do you know who helped you to find that apartment?" she asks accusingly. "Who is this Georges anyway? How dare he get a contract on my turf?"
"Eva," I sigh, "I am not the one that requested for that Georges. My client did. He wants me to live with him, so in the meantime, I am renting my apartment," I explain as I sit down on a chair in the corner of the fitting room.
"Where are you living now?" she asks curiously and I give her the address. A few minutes later, I hear her whistle in the phone, "That's what I call a fucking house. Did you know that before the actual owner, the house was listed for ten million? Your client has a lot of money," she explains impressed as I hum in approval. "Who's your client this time?"
"Look at the news and you will see," I sigh as I lean my hand on the wall.
I hear her move around before I can hear some voices in the background. She must have opened the television. I close my eyes and wait in silence as I listen to the news on the other side of the phone.
"Your client is NorthStar Imperial's new CEO?!" she shouts in the phone making me cringe. "Damn Micah, I did not know you were gay. Why have you refused all my offers to go to the club then?"
"Because I am not gay. I never had any interest in men, but Nikolas... He is different."
"You think he is one of us?"
"I don't know yet, but his smell is somehow alluring."
"Do you think that he is your mate?" she asks reluctantly knowing that I don't like to talk about it.
"I doubt it, her sister smells similar, but not quite. Well, you'll know when you meet him one day."
"Micah, it can get really dangerous if we go into a vampire feeding territory. Especially if he is a Pure and unmated. You know how much more powerful they are than us newborns," she warns.
"I am careful, don't worry."
"I have been with you since our growth (transition from human to vampire). I know how insatiable you are when you see someone that you want. So don't you dare lie to me."
I sigh and as expected, I really can't lie to her, "Alright, alright, I will talk to you later."
I end the call and put the phone back into my back pocket before going back to try the rest of the clothes that I picked earlier. Once I have finished, I pay for a pair of jeans and a dark blue shirt. Some clothes may look nice on the shelf, but once I have tried it, it is another story.
Now that I am satisfied with my shopping spree, I need to know more about Nikolas and his family. I don't only want to know about their facade, but their dirty secrets. Is Nikolas a vampire? To be honest, what Eva just told me really worries me. I am a vampire and I am confident in my fighting skills, but if I have to engage in a battle with a Pure, I am going to get crushed or annihilated. Since they are born as a vampire and their blood is pure, they have affinities to magic like telekinesis or teleportation and so on. When a human becomes a vampire, we stop aging, but the Pures can choose when they want to stop the process and when to age. Personally, I have never met one, but these are common knowledge in our world.
There are ten families in total that still have a pure bloodline. But to know who they are exactly, I need more information. Unfortunately for me, there is no book or site web talking about the Vampire history. The only way to find out is to talk with a vampire old enough to know about these kinds of things. I take out my phone to look at the time and sees that it was only two o'clock. Decided, I go to my car and drive to the man I know where I can get what I want.
Out of the city, I park my car in front of an old country house. The next house is one or two kilometres away. I swirl the key around in my hand as I walk up the three steps stair before knocking at the door. I don't have to wait long before a child opens the door.
"Who are you?" he asks with his big blue eyes.
"Micah and I am here to see the Blood Moon," I answer making the boy smile showing me his canines.
"Come in," he waves as I step inside as he closes the door. "He is in the back," he points at the dark hallway. "Do you want me to come with you?"
"I am going to get lost otherwise aren't I?" I raise an eyebrow which makes the boy laugh.
"Yeah!" he jumps up and down as he claps his hands, "It's fun! Sometimes people get in there and only comes out a few days later and some never do."
"I see," I answer as I look at the dark hallway. It is faint, but I can sense it. There is magic all over this house. I did not know that the man I am seeking knew how to use magic.
"Come, the Blood Moon already knows that you're here and he is waiting," the child takes my hand as he starts pulling me into the hallway.
He leads me through the maze turning right once, then turning left twice, going straight up for a few minutes and so on. When we finally reach a door, my head is spinning and I have no idea how to get out of here. The boy knocks on the door three times and it opens on its own. We both walk inside and a man sitting in a wheelchair greets us.
"Micah, what a surprise," he greets with a toothy smile.
"Blood Moon, I see that you're as cunning as usual. Do you trap a lot of people in your maze these days?"
"If I am lucky, I get to have three persons a week. Most of them are humans like thieves or drunken teenagers that stumble in."
"Free blood right? You must have a lot of mouths to feed," I eyed the little boy standing next to the man.
Blood Moon starts to laugh as he ruffles the boy's hair, "It does get lonely in here. They all leave when they are old enough. Although, this one has decided to stay. But this is not what you came for right? What do you want from me?" I take out a picture of Nikolas and his family and give it to the man. He looks at it before smirking. "What is your connection with them?"
"This man is my client," I point at Nikolas. "Strangely, he made weird demands like living with him or being his fiancé," I explain as Blood Moon starts to laugh his ass off.
"You, my friend, are in deep shit," he clutches his rib as he struggles to talk since he is too busy to control is laughs.
"What do you mean," I frown as I continue to watch him snickers.
"Damn, I don't know if you're lucky or unlucky, but they are all vampires."
"Only vampires right?" I ask as I can feel my anxiety ease up.
"Pures."
