"Ungh! Stop! Go away!"
Dale was trying to wake up Logan but it seemed that all went in vain!
Now there was only one way. The boy flew down the stairs and tapped on his brother's friend Fredrick's shoulder.
"What's the matter?"
"Logan's not waking up." Dale sighed.
"Let's go then. We need to get him up before the shop opens, don't we?"
The boy nodded and up they went to the monster's (Logan's) room.
Logan was snoring louder than ever.
Fredrick smiled.
"1..2..3.. LOGAN! FIRE! FIRE!"
"MOMMY!!!" Logan shot up from his bed.
Loud laughter echoed through the house. "You shitheads! Why are you so cruel to a hungover person!?!" He scowled, yawning.
"Cause you snore like shit. Little boy!"
"I don't snore and I'm not at all little. People like me are called over handsome." Said Logan. "But see that boy in the corner", he pointed to Dale, "he can be called little. No offense, though."
"I'm not little"
"No, you're a little big boy."
Dale snorted. It wasn't his fault for being short.
"Don't tease him. You!" Fredrick pointed to Logan. "Yes, you! Do you know how hard it was for him yesterday? You wanted butter scotch. I'll give you one if you don't get up."
Faster than light, Logan rushed outside. It was better if he doesn't mess with Fredrick. That shit face was double his size and despite their friendship, he favoured Dale more. Logan didn't want to be sandwiched by the giant. C'mon, who would?
"Call that burden of Earth! He's slacking since yesterday."
"Yes,Boss!!"
Dale ran down the stairs and reached out for the telephone. He dialed the number saved as 'Good For Nothing'.
Connecting......
"Hello." A heavy but smooth voice answered.
"Hello, is George there?"
"I'm sorry I don't know any George. Are you sure you dialed the right number?"
"Pretty sure. The phone cross connects sometimes. So sorry!"
"No problem. By the way I didn't get your name."
"I shouldn't tell a stranger."
"But I'm a good stranger. The name's Damien. Damien Black."
"I'm Dale. Dale Berry."
"Our initials match. We must have been friends in the past life!!"
"Uh..."
"Dale! Are you lost or something? We have work here!!!!" Logan shouted.
"Sorry I have to go. Bye!"
Click.
Dale had a ghost of a smile on his lips for the whole day. He giggled all by himself.
On the other end, Damien had a lingering grin on his face as he clutched the telephone, peeping at it sometimes.
Because for them, it wasn't love at first sight, but, at first call.
It was a fated cross connection after all.
