When I was younger, I studied Lan Shao, which had more "aggressive" forward strikes; very rarely would you back up. Wing Chun was a bit of a gear change with keeping your body squared off with your opponent and mostly vertical fists -_-;;
When i started doing kenjutsu i had to change the stance of my feet. It turns out moving with a bamboo katana had some differences with the way we moved in boxing or full contact.
