It was Halloween!
One of Bailey’s favorite times of the year. The leaves were changing colors to the beautiful red’s, orange’s, yellow’s and brown’s that made everything seem bright. The weather had changed from the 90% humidity of summer where everyone felt like they were melting even with the AC on to a nice cool autumn breeze.
It was sweater weather and who the hell didn’t like sweaters? Long sleeves, hot chocolate, candy, creepy themed foods and that one-day a year where everyone dressed up because they fucking could.
Horror movies, blood and gore, pumpkins and skeletons, witches and ghouls, it was the best! Bailey loved the first of October when basically every movie channel on TV started their annual 31 days of Halloween. He literally never changed his channel, even watched the old and lame slock movies.
Yep, Bailey loved it. He loved Halloween, in his opinion, probably one of the, if not the, best holiday. It was everything he loved jam packed into a single month. Not to say that he didn’t get excited about every other holiday because he did. Bailey simply enjoyed the celebration aspect of it, the good food and the company. He was a social person so of course he hit up a shit ton of parties through October.
Now Bailey was not one to get plastered, especially on school nights...although Friday and Saturday sometimes made an exception. However, he had no issue watching others get hammered. It was as funny watching someone else be an idiot as it was to be the idiot so he basked in both.
Campus was pretty crazy as well. All kinds of events were going on from Halloween themed dances to the cafeteria making Halloween based food. Even Cassi’s Café brought out some gooey delights decorated with bats and spiders or green goo. Honestly, it all tasted delicious so Bailey had no issue biting into a doughnut that oozed green cream. If anything, it made it better!
“You look like you’re eating snot,” Amery commented, pointing to the green cream that was left on the side of Bailey’s mouth. He wiped it with the back of his hand then licked it clean because he was not wasting that delicious sugary goodness.
“Yeah and you have fake blood dripping from your lips,” Bailey pointed out, gesturing to the red stains on either side of Amery’s mouth. She also had in some creepy bright red contacts and a black wig. She was going for the typical vampire look though she toned it down since they were on campus. However, she planned to go as the ‘sexy’ vampire to the party Darcie had invited them to later that evening.
Many others were dressed up as well, including Bailey. He went for a dead rocker look with his face and hands painted like a skeleton. His hair was hidden beneath a black worn out top hat that matched his black long sleeved jacket and pants. It was about all he could do as a broke college student but he was content with the look.
Amery shrugged, brushing pieces of her wig back as gently as she could to not to mess it up. “At least it doesn’t look like snot.”
“As a medical student, snot should not gross you out. It’s a normal bodily fluid.” Bailey shrugged, finished his doughnut while making sure to chew with his mouth open so Amery could see the green.
She grimaced while she ‘explained’, “No, as a medical student I have to put up with bodily fluids but, on the inside I’m still allowed to cringe.”
Bailey rolled his eyes and mentioned Amery wouldn’t last. She stuck out her tongue then regretted it because she thought she messed up her makeup. Watching her run off to the bathroom to check on it made Bailey let out a laugh, followed by snickers when she returned, glaring at him for laughing.
“Come on, let’s get classes over with so we can party!” Amery hooted, grabbing her things before gripping Bailey’s arm and tugging him off to class. Bailey had enough time to grab his coffee, some of it spilling over the edge of his cup but he saved most of it.
“I am so happy Halloween is on Friday because I am definitely going to have a hangover tomorrow.” Amery smiled up at Bailey until he opened his mouth.
“And likely going to wake up in some strange person’s home with no recollection of how you got there.”
Amery put on a sick smile that made Bailey shiver. She proceeded to pinch his arm, making him open his lips as he let out a silent scream.
“You know what, I definitely will. I hope I do and I hope you do too!” Amery tapped Bailey’s nose, causing him to glare at her because damn it, it took him like an hour to put on the paint on his face…ok, so Amery helped but that was more reason she shouldn’t mess with it!
Bailey rolled his eyes, grumbling about how he wasn’t really a believer in one-night stands. He had bad luck; she seemed to forget that. Either Bailey would do something stupid and embarrass himself or he would somehow fuck it all up before they got home and end up alone.
There was also that one time he met a guy at a football game in high school. Bailey was interested and the guy seemed to be as well. When Bailey worked up the nerve to ask if he wanted to hang out Bailey was suddenly hit in the head with a football…somehow the quarterback had thrown so off that it knocked Bailey straight to his ass. He was out for like two hours. See, he couldn’t even set up dates!
The world was so cruel.
Amery proceeded to joke by saying, “Make it a two night stand.”
Bailey’s eyes were going to permanently roll into the back of his head. He shook his head while Amery giggled but, the two continued to joke all the way to their class. The day went by fairly quickly. Kids were all dressed up and talking about the holiday, professors were passing out candy and before they realized it the school day was over. Though the party didn’t start until later, Amery and Bailey bolted out of class the second their professor let them.
Bailey sat in Amery’s dorm watching some gamers online to pass the time. Seeing as Amery had her makeup done she just needed to successfully change without messing up said makeup. When finished, she came out of her bathroom in her corset and lace skirt that reached above her knees.
“Go on, praise me.” Amery raised her arms while spinning around to show off her attire. Bailey wasn’t sure what he was meant to praise because a.) he wasn’t interested and b.) it was basically the same outfit except with a corset.
“Yeah, looks good,” Bailey commented, earning himself a very angry glare.
“Just good?” Amery huffed. “Bailey, come on, you gotta give me more than that! Should I change?”
Bailey groaned and regretted not giving Amery the ‘praise’ she wanted because he ended up having to see her go through a dozen or so other options before sticking with the one she had on in the first place.
