"Hi... Ezio".
"Elissa, and... my king?"
As the secret door in the wall opened, a woman with scarlet hair and a kid with a hood appeared in the eyes of Ezio and Hatria.
"E-Ez-Ezio". Yelled Cyrus.
"What are you doing here?", ignoring him, he turns his attention to the woman.
"Who... who is she, Ezio?", said Hatria, barely moving her lips.
"No one, she doesn't matter".
"Oh, now you're saying that?, and by the way, you mean saving the king's life? Nah, it's nothing, I was just passing by, and I saw this kid and I said..."
"STOP, just shut up, you can tell me that crap later. COME HERE, you're my only option right now, you see this woman agonizing? HELP HER OR I'LL CUT YOUR THROAT LIKE THE WOMAN I SAW JUST NOW".
He put Hatria down as Elissa hurried to give her water and prepare the bandages.
It was not the best place to rest at the moment. In a dirty corridor, were you could hear the rats passing by, and only the light of one candle that Elissa had lit, warming them. They needed to move from there an inch away, but the main difficulty was that their steps could be heard if they ran, so they kept their voices down and waited for an oportunity to advance.
"As mad as ever... I guess this is normal, so... new girlfriend?"
Cyrus raised his ears at the same time. Ezio showed a very strange smile, one that he lets out once in a million days, almost as turning it into a sneer.
"Thank you for your concern, but I'm happily divorced and dubiously raising three children".
The king let a gasp out.
"I'm kidding my boy, it was just a joke, not true".
"How unfriendly", said Elissa.
"Well, I AM SORRY if I'm being disrespecfuly pretentious, but I certainly care more about the current abode of the death that someone anonymously decided to create out there".
"Ezio, it's... it's alright, we need to relax, this lady helped us, so we need to be thankful and wait for Evan or...".
"Or what? Hatria... please, it's fine, don't force yourself, I'll figure a way to get us to the next safest place, WHAT ARE YOU DOING ELISSA HURRY UP?!".
"Tch, I'm on it. (she turns to Hatria), OK sweetheart this is going to hurt just a little..."
She grabbed her hand and took out the arrow on her chest as fast as she could... fast, but still painful. Fotunately, she had been biting a rag that her savior gave her minutes ago.
"HEY, treat her with kindness".
Cyrus and Ezio continued.
"Where is that? Are you talking about the...", Cyrus stood up.
"Of course! What else!"
"What are you gentlemen talking about? Care to explain?".
"No! We need to wait for Evan, he's still out there... and... and the people that came for me, we need to save them... and the servants, the order... THE KIDS THAT WERE DANCING!"
The hood was covering his face, but not his hands, one could have easily spotted his fragile stance and shaking fingers. A thin body and blue eyes that were melting like a broken waterfall.
"My k... Cyrus...", he tried reaching him, but the boy frowned his forehead and did a twirl right before he lifted his arm. "... mmm, where did you get that hood? It suits you", said Ezio.
"Elissa gave it to me".
"Yes I did, got a prob..."
"Shh". He "gently" smirked at her. "well, I think it seems perfect for an adventure, we can take it out next time, but first, we need to save it, or else, it's going to get dirty from all that bl... dust out there, ok?", He was slowly getting closer to the kid, "besides, look at Hatria, are you seeing her face? She's not ok, she needs to get a warm blanket right this instant, are you following me?"
He nodded. He had his arms crossed in disdained, but as soon as his heart got touched, the subtle sigh he let became a storm in his mind, letting his arms down and provoking him into starting the march to the opposite direction in wich he originally planned.
"Alright... alright... but I'm coming back for survivors".
"As you wish, my king".
"What the... so is it like this all the time?", asked Elissa.
"You... ughh... you don't have any idea".
"Hatria, let´s go", Ezio came to pick Hatria with the help of Elissa. Cyrus stood in front of them to lit the way.
On the other side of the walls, the battle was still going on. The sky was clear, and the sun was radiant as ever... but the scenary that was taking place at the royal castle, was smearing the sight bright red.
When will the man learn that blood only takes more blood?
When will the meat stop seeking for meat?
You can only see the coffins full and the houses empties. Families destroyed, grown men shedding tears.
Is it really necessary all of it? Would we had needed the kitharas and laurels if you would had decided to stay home?
Everything is for you, so be happy. If we cry, is because you were loved.
... They scream...
you surely can see the grief, and can smell the sorrow, it is bittersweet. It is black, red and white.
"No, I don't".
Yes you do. Evan? what a blasfemy, you don't even want to remember the voice that used to call you?
"Don't get me STARTED".
You killed that man, what are you doing? Did you know my father was killed in the same way?
"OH! NOW I DO".
You should be careful or the dead will haunt you. The underworld can be pretty mean with the living sometimes.
"Don't... tell me about it".
Evan was on the outside fighting with his sword. He already had one, two, three, four, five and more scars all over his face and body.
He was crude and merciless, the edge of the bronze was rezonating and flying over and over again in the split of a second.
How many left until you are satisfied?
Asked the phantom.
"Just a little more"
"..."
"I'm almost there, I can feel it".
You are tempting the dead young man.
"ahhhaAHHHHAHHH".
He lifted his arms, the sword was at the peek of the sun. His feet were jumping bodies, while his hands were cutting heads, ripping bones and flesh appart.
One thump cut, two nails out and the leather of the last man's meat were the only things he could think about. No one would get out of the lion's claws.
"I'LL BRING THE UNDERWORLD HERE".
Perhaps that could have been truth. Just until...
The lion collided with the jungle.
I told you.
