After Allura calms down, she begins her story. "You see, I had a brother. His name was actually Lancelot meaning,"Servant". Or in that one human story you have. I think it's called,'The knights of the round table.'(?) And in it's form, kinda means or is an overly or romantic name, going back to one of the knights of that round table. I still, to this day, do not know why it has to be round." She furrows her brows. They laugh at her reaction but then grow serious, interested to know more. "But he liked the name yet did not like it at the same time. He'd say,"It's too big. Call me Lance instead." Then he'd smile this adorable toothy grin. He'd always say that when someone called him Lancelot. But that was when he was older. When he was younger, he adored the name. Because,"I'm a knight!" He'd say, jumping up and down. But when he learned what it meant, his name, he said,"I don't wanna be a servant. Servants don't get to help people. Some do but I don't wanna be like that. I rather save people like a hero or a knight! And I wanna see them happy because they are back with their families and friends; and because they would be free. And people being treated like servants makes me sad. I don't want anyone to be caged. They deserve to be free! Like me!" But he was and wasn't free. He actually lied when he'd say he was free. He finally told me the truth one day when we were playing in that meadow I so loved. He loved that meadow and that was another reason why it was so dear to me. When we had lay down in the meadow to stare up at the stars, it was night time(it's even more beautiful at night), he said,"I wish to be free. I'm not free. Because people think just because I'm the prince that they have to bow or act proper in front of me. I notice they get scared and act nervous. And I don't want them to. I wish that we could all be free someday. From this world and from ourselves." For someone that was 8, he was a smart kid. Most of the time, he'd act like he didn't know a thing. But the truth was, was that he was smart. Smarter than most kids his age. So smart, that when he was 1 he had said my name. But it was 'lura instead of Allura. But even when he learned to say my actual name, when he was 2, he never stopped calling me 'lura. It warmed my heart when he did." She fell silent, tears starting to fall down her face at the memories. She couldn't say anything more without breaking into sobs.
Coran spoke up. "He was such an adorable child. He was a goofy one too. Making jokes but still, he cared so much about people, that he'd always showed it. He was like a son to me. But he'd always called me Uncle. He said,"You're Crazy Uncle Coran!" Then he'd laugh and hug me. He never stopped calling me that. Except when he was 8. The last thing he said to me was,"Coran, do you ever feel like you could do more? Like make a difference? I feel as if I could do more to show people that, just because we are different, we are still the same. We are who we are. We don't have to pretend to be someone we are not. But some people do. Some who are hurting; some who just don't know who they really are; some people with different personalities; some who have had bad things happen, wanting people to not see who they truly were. Coran, I feel like that sometimes. That I don't know who I truly am. I would ask some people,"Who am I?" And they'd say,"The prince, of course!" And then they'd smile at me. But that may be who I am but it's not...who I truly am. Some people can change, some people may change, some people might not be who they first were, but they will always be who we cared or care about, in here." Then he pointed to his heart and smiled at me. I was...amazed by his speech and a bit, saddened that he felt that way. I think that he truly had more to say but he did not want me to either see who he truly was, or find something that he was hiding. But I still remember every time I spent with that boy. Allura does too. He always was able to put a smile on people's faces. Even when some people were hurting or sad, he could make them feel better by just smiling. He truly was...There are no words that can describe him. That is how much of a person he was." Coran had big, fat tears rolling down his face.
Allura was smiling through her tears at Coran. Coran hugs her tight. He was practically bawling. Everyone was moved by that story. Pidge was wiping her tears from that story; Hunk was bawling and saying,"That was beautiful! Just beautiful!" And clapping; Keith, well, he was stone-faced but even he was moved by it. He had to wipe his eyes before he, too, would cry from how beautiful a story that was; Shiro...he was trying not to cry; Lance...he didn't know what to think of that story. That boy kinda sounded like Lance when he was younger. It was..weird to say the least.
Lance speaks up. "What happened to him, anyway?"
Coran unwraps himself from Allura and wipes his tears. "We..don't know. That was the last we ever got to speak to him. When he...disappeared, people were crying, bawling, sobbing, because that boy meant so much to them. They asked where he had gone and we told them that we didn't know. The day he disappeared was the day Zarkon destroyed Altea."
Allura grasps onto Coran, bawling even more. Coran wraps his arms around her, rubbing her back to soothe the distressed princess.
Pidge says, after wiping some tears away."You mean, he is gone? Forever? Do you think he...?" She didn't finish that thought.
Hunk speaks up. "Wait, Lance, didn't you love that story? The knights of the round table? And when I asked why you said you didn't know?"
Lance thinks about that. "Yeah, I actually have it with me. Why?"
Hunk replies. "Wasn't it also worn out a lot and when I asked your mom why it was so torn, she had said that you loved the book so much, that you took it with you, everywhere you went? Do you think she was lying? I mean, you do take it everywhere but..?"
"Hunk, I don't know a time when I didn't have that book. I did take it everywhere with me. I still do. So I don't know any other explanation of why it's torn."
Allura lifts her head. "You have a book of it? And it's torn? Could..I see it?"
"Uh, I guess you could. But why would you be so interested in a torn book?" He was confused.
Allura wipes some more tears away. "Lance..had one too."
